NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Hazel Hope Brown, 82, of North Augusta, SC, beloved wife of sixty two years to Rev. William L. 'Preacher' Brown, died Sunday, March 15th, 2009. Born in Lockhart, SC, she had been an area resident since 1968. A sales clerk, she had worked for Penny's for many years and retired from Hamrick's. She was a member of Clearwater First Baptist Church. Mrs. Brown enjoyed fishing, cooking and along with her husband, was very active in disaster relief work. In addition to her husband, family members include her children, the late Pam Gantt, David Brown, Simpsonville, SC, Jenny Thatcher, (Robert) North Augusta, SC and Melissa Sarchet, Clearwater, SC; siblings, Lewis McDade and Willie Lawrence, both of Spartanburg, SC; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 18th, 2009, at 11 o'clock at Clearwater First Baptist Church, Clearwater, SC, with her husband Rev. William L. 'Preacher' Brown and Rev. John Bolin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC, with Rev. Ramon Ergle officiating. The family has asked that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or NHC Hospice. Friends may call at the family residence.
