EDGEFIELD, S.C. - Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Powell Bolen, age 93, will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2pm at Bland Funeral Home Chapel, Johnston, with burial to follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 632 Rocky Creek Road, Johnston, SC 29832 or Hospice Care of South Carolina, 510 Augusta Road-Suite B, Edgefield, SC 29824. Mrs. Bolen, a native of Saluda, died Sunday, March 15, 2009. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Addie Kirkland Harris. Mrs. Bolen retired from Riegel, Inc. and was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include: sons: Lewis Powell (Mildred), Cayce; Laverne Powell (Carolyn) Aiken; Jimmy (Jimbo) Powell, Edgefield; and James Bolen, Jr. Greenville; daughters: Sandra Holmes, Johnston; Sara Bryan, Trenton and Linda Priest (Trenton); sisters: Cleo Thomas Yonce (WL) and Viola Coleman; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
