NEW ELLENTON, S.C.-Answered God's call and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 14, 2009, Ms. Wanda Hobbs Chambers, age 81 of New Ellenton, S.C., wife of the late Ray Chambers, Sr. and daughter of the late Clarence Hobbs and the late Georgia Shields Hobbs. She is survived by sons, Thomas Ray (Mary) 'Chucky' Chambers of New Ellenton, Richard (Lisa) Chambers of Aiken, Ronnie (Sheila) Chambers of New Ellenton and Donnie Chambers of New Ellenton; a daughter, Cheryl (Jack) Sharpe of Aiken; brothers, Malcolm Hobbs of California, Carroll Hobbs of Tennessee; a sister, Martha Martin of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Tyler. She was born in Concord, Tennessee but has been a resident of Aiken County for the past 58 years. She was a dedicated member of Corinth Baptist Church in New Ellenton, S.C. and a member of the Senior Ladies' Sunday School there. She was a member of the Ladies' Jaycettes of New Ellenton. The family stated that she was a very special mom, grandmother and great grandmother and was fondly known by many as 'MaMaw'. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends but life for her has not ended, but only begun in a better land. Yes, she has moved to her Heavenly home. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 5:00 PM at Corinth Baptist Church in New Ellenton, S.C. with Rev. Kirby Bunton and Rev. Robbie Vance officiating. The interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. The pallbearers will be John Ramsey, Steve Harris, Don Glover, Dennis Glover, Harold Key, Mike Stowell and Mel Youngblood. The Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and members of her Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the hour of service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be made, in Ms. Chambers honor, to Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund, 805 South Main St., New Ellenton, S.C. 29809.
