How do we get out of this current mess with the economy? A big step is to develop all the natural resources that we are blessed with -- natural gas, coal and oil -- and also build nuclear power plants. Those real jobs will create real wealth.
Last fall as a candidate, Barack Obama led us to believe that all that was on the table -- you know, when gasoline prices were so high, and when he needed your vote and he was running as a moderate, not a socialist.
Now he's elected, along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and we are told we can't do it. It's not fair to our children -- the whole global warming hoax. We are told that "green" is not a dream -- just billions of dollars and a few years away.
But at the same time, Nancy, Harry and Obama are willing to gamble with trillions for a pork -- er, stimulus -- plan, because as adults we are not willing to live with the pain caused by government and its policies. So we are going to roll the dice, and give these leaders more power to give us, at best, a short relief from their irresponsible policies.
Remember that health care, green tech and all this other garbage we are being sold is for the children -- except our children and grandchildren are now broke. But it's for the children, they say. Throw out any of the bums who go along with this spending bill -- starting with Obama.

Why didn't you complain when you bought the biggest "bill of goods" that W sold? Twice!!
Reader54....most Republicans DID complain when Bush didn't do as he was supposed to, ie immigration reform, and overspending. Why can't Dems criticize THIS president when he attempts to spend us out of debt?
Yawn, another biased opinion that offers nothing but hypocrisy and bitter lamentations...Yawn again...
I guess it's only 'another biased opinion that offers nothing but hypocrisy and bitter lamentations' if it disagrees with the opinions of the blind and gullible dims who defend and excuse every bad decision pbho makes...Yawn again...
Aren't all opinions biased in some way? Obama's Democratic Congress hung him out to dry.
Let's hope they do TheShep. So far, things look real bad for America and O is getting everything he's asked for. Strange that those two situations seem to go hand in hand.
The crazy part about all the jobs Obama's stimilus will create, all are temporary jobs and jobs for male construction workers. Most people that are out of a job are retail sales, manufacturing and banking clerks, not construction workers. What happens when all of these temporary projects are finished? All of these people will be out of work. We have to take back all of the manufacturing jobs that went to China and put Americans back to work. Manufacturing has always been the base of America's economy and the elimination of manufacturing started many Presidents ago.
Well true getalife but some are new bureacracy jobs that will last a lifetime for govt employees. The title shouldn't be "Democrats selling us a bill of goods" rather "Democrats charged bill of goods to US (hey how punny). Funny how the sky was falling and now Bernanke says the recession will be over this year. What the _____? Well after pumping trillions of dollars into the system that maybe technically correct but still we will be no better off and still few jobs-a paper facade worth as much as the paper-nothing.
True Bizarro, many of these jobs will require the states to pay for them once the stimulus money has run out. That is why I agree with some governors on rejecting any money that will later result in the state being responsible for paying the bill. To me all of this is just false hope and temporary results. The economy may temporarily get better, but then it will get worst.
A comment on the "global warming hoax". If global warming is indeed a hoax then the risk is that billions are spent developing technologies that may not have been needed. And of course our profligate lifestyle is inconvenienced which is the most important consideration to many. But if global warming is real and we continue to ignore it as the previous administration did for eight years then the consequences are that low coastal lands flood (think Florida), hundreds of millions are displaced, species are exterminated and our lifestyle is really inconvenienced. Not to mention the trillions that will be spent trying to deal with the consequences. Do you buy home and auto insurance because you know there will be a fire or you will have a car accident? Or do you buy it because it is the prudent thing to do and the "possible" consequences are too severe to ignore.

Posted by getalife on Mon Mar 16, 2009 10:32 AM....Yeah, I agree, but taxing our corps more than any other industrialized country and BimbObama rasising those taxes ain't gonna' get any jobs back here. More will be leaving for Mexico, India, and China.

Posted by agnellus on Mon Mar 16, 2009 1:32 PM....In the first place, there are as many scientists that say man does not cause global warming. Secondly, if you believe the snake oil Al Gone and his cohorts have made millions selling (you must have drunk it), then you must also believe in the Easter Bunny.
Our economy runs on OIL, Coal and natural gas NOW and in the near future, NOT technology we have not mastered and will not for years to come. However, you r boy BimbObama and the econut supported DIMs have made NO provisions in any legislation to build nuclear plants (as promised), or drill our oil and natural gas. Just goes to show how short sighted and stupid DIMocRATS are.
Just where do you think the money is going to come from for all these nuclear plants? The rate payers who can't pay their mortgages? Taxpaying Repubs who want to reduce taxes, (that was done, for the rich, under Bush and it didn't create one new job) and at the same time want government support of utilities for drilling and construction? Oil companies refuse to drill now even if they could, because the price of oil is too low to make it profitable for them. I don't see any Repubs making any move for any legislative action on nuclear plants either.
jedex6.....Why do you keep saying Bush cut taxes on the rich when he cut taxes on EVERYONE? And by the way....if it didn't create one new job as you say...why was unemployment at an all time low? Curious.
