Yeah ,Richard, and you got just what you voted for in '04! You got bit by the same dog twice.
In a recent editorial, you asked the dumbest question I have ever read: "Where's the outrage" over President Obama's spending bills?
This massive spending spree is exactly what more than half of the American people elected him to do. He warned them during his campaigning that he was going to "spread the wealth," and so he is. Why the complaint?
The Republican Party is not complaining. They are just waiting for the other shoe to drop: It's called "debt."
The American people will then want another "new change," and frankly I don't know where it will come from. Both political parties spend like drunken sailors, and they won't stop so long as Americans demand that government respond to all their problems.
The solution is austerity, not prolific spending.
It is time our schools start teaching that the ultimate cause of our economic distress is political in character. The boom-bust cycles will not disappear so long as people believe that the rate of interest may be reduced by banking policy rather than by individuals saving money.
True, governments can reduce the rate of interest in the short run. They can issue additional paper money. They can open the way to credit expansion by the banks. They can create an artificial boom and the appearance of prosperity. But booms will collapse, sooner or later, and bring about depressions. Booms produce poverty.
The greatest disasters are the moral ravages brought on by liberal philosophy. Attend to history: It makes people despondent and dispirited. The more optimistic they were during the illusory prosperity of the boom, the greater their despair and their feeling of frustration when paying the devil his due.

America is in the process of learning another lesson, hopefully. Congress needs a big flush and THE VOTER needs to put "America first" people in D.C. Right now, politicians and bureaucrats and their support staff ALL feel that shafting the taxpayer is their primary job.
The "the illusory prosperity of the boom" was just that, an illusion...Now we must deal with reality..Personally I don't feel worried, my stock is down, but I got years to retire and put away, so I don't hardly pay attention to the red and green arrow in the corner of the tv screen.. What Falsely went up is really coming down, or is it where it should have been in the first place?
"America First" people? Ha, no such thing when you talk about politicians, or are you stil drinking red Kool Aid believing such foolishness? So called "America First" people were and still are in DC, and you still crying foul...Make up your mind, either it's all bad, all good, or somewhere in between...
Yes, mtr you don't care because you have time but what about those that have 2 years or less?
Richard: You owe our Sailors an apology. Sailors have better sense than to spend like this. You should have said: Spend like a bunch of drunken Democrats.
Lets give credit where credit is due.
My sadness is for those who are at the end of their lives. Those fine people who fought WWII, saved and invested, were promised a golden retirement and worked to achieve it. We've [filtered word] away all the financial foundation and are quickly removing the freedoms they sacrificed so much to achieve. I'm sorry, Mom, Dad, Grampa, Gramma. Forgive our children for they don't give a damn about anyone but themselves.
Moterman, what makes Marxism "America first"? Your messiah claims to worship at the alter of Karl Marx and his actions, to date, agree with his claim.
motormouth is one who voted for spending---like obomoron--as long as it is someone else's money. Ah, the thinkin of the entitlement crowd.
The vast majority of this country is ignorant, uneducated and too easily persuaded with weak minds that can not comprehend individual thought, thus look who got elected.
There was a compelling study done of Obama voters. Very mind boggling the stupidty. You can search for it on YouTube.
spreading the wealth? who's getting the money hogue? it's not us it's your presidents buddies, the criminal bankers, and aig trash who are nothing but criminals in pin striped suits.he had to flood the market with money to keep those criminal organizations open so they can pay bonuses!has any of that money been loaned out? has anyone saved a home? of course not! they sent it over seas to pay for their bad investments, and bad decisions.they are thugs in suits, they are no better than the trash slinging drugs, the only difference is they went to college.
The whole problem is that the bailout money is going to the wrong hands. Detroit can produce all the automobiles they want to, fuel costs can go down to fifty cents a gallon, but if people keep losing jobs, there will be no one to buy the products of the companies that are being bailed out. The insurance giant AIG keeps going to the government feeding trough, why do we keep bailing them out? I certainly do not see where AIG creates jobs or benefits the economy in any way. Corporate America keeps getting their bonuses while the average working person is being deprived of the opportunity to make a living. Until the big money players are put into the same position that the working class has been put in, it will continue. Until we stand up for ourselves, and realize government is not going to help the little man, this situation will continue. The only thing government is going to do for the little man is try to keep the little man as dependent as possible on government.

Posted by reader54 on Mon Mar 16, 2009 4:30 AM....BimbObama and the DIMs (your de facto President Princess Pilosi) have spent more in two months than in ALL of our history as a nation. At least we got rid of a lot of the spend thrift Republicans. Why don't you try to do the same with the DIMocRAT spend thrifts?

Posted by CarlA on Mon Mar 16, 2009 11:27 AM.... so true, I believe we should return to the day when a voter had to be able to read and write and own property/pay taxes. It was those uneducated and ignroant American voters that elected BimbObama. Hannity interviewed many of them on the street and all they could say is that they were voting for BimbObama, but could not name the Vice President, and even said Palin would make BimbObama a good Vice President.
Ha! Hey Jack...your right in your description of the American People. It was the ignorant, uneducated, and weak minded that voted for Bush...not once but twice......presently
Ameicans are doing their best not to make the same mistake three times in a row...You know nothing about our New President, so why are the name calling?
Those interviewed on the streets were Republicans...I know because Hannity described them "to a T " You should include yourself in the "ignorant American Voter...unless you didn't vote this time around.
bush...not once but TWICE!
