AIKEN, S.C. - Ned Allen Bates, age 64 of 632 Horry Street, NE passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Longevity Personal Care Home of North Augusta, S.C. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, March 16, 2009, at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Montmorenci Baptist Church Cemetery. Ned was the son of the late Issac Bates, Sr., and Hattie Mae Bates. He was a member of Montmorenci Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Men's Gospel Chorus until his health failed. He was a member of the Zodiac Motorcycle Club and the Free Riders Motorcycle Club of Aiken. He was a 1963 graduate of Martha Schofield High School. In addition to his father, his brother, Issac Bates, Jr., preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughters, Angela Hamilton (Duncan), North Augusta and Audrey Glenn (Eric), Marietta, Ga.; his son, Gregory A. Bates, Tulsa Oklahoma; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Mae Bates, Aiken, S.C.; his brother, Leroy Bates (Jackie), Aiken, S.C., and his sister-in-law, Mattie Ruth Bates, Aiken; 3 grandchildren, Donita A. Hamilton, Charles P. Bates, and Gabrielle Glenn. Friends may call at the residence or at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning 3 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6-7 p.m.
