RICHMOND HILL, Ga. - Robert 'Bob' Morris, Lt. Col. Ret., 94 of Richmond Hill, entered his heavenly rest on March 12, 2009, at his home in Evans, Ga. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mikki Griffis Morris, a son, Robert James Morris, Jr., and a grandson, Nathan Lee Morris. Born in Norfolk, Va., on June 30, 1914, Bob moved to Atlanta as a child. There he met and married the love of his life, Mikki Griffis, in 1942. In 1943, Bob attended Officer Candidate School and entered the newly formed Army Air Corp. He responded to his country's call, serving in the Pacific during World War II. He dedicated the next 25 years of his life to his country, serving valiantly both in the Korean Conflict and earning the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in Viet Nam. After retiring from the military in 1967, Bob began a civil service career at Glynco Naval Air Station near Brunswick, Ga. In 1994, Bob retired from the civil service and relocated to Richmond Hill, Ga. Bob was a devoted husband and father to six children. Throughout his life he was an example of unimpeachable integrity and honesty. A pillar to his family, he provided an indomitable strength of character and will. He was also known for his wit and could often be found with a grandchild or two on his knee telling a tale that was guaranteed to win a smile. Bob is survived by two sons; Michael Morris (Goretti) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Ronnie Morris of Brunswick, Ga.; three daughters; Maureen Slakey (Jim) of Olympia, Wash., Melani Herren (Rickey) of Evans, GA., Marcia Price (Larry) of Olympia, Wash..; Bobby, Price of Augusta, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; Jeremy (Marianne) and Melani (Greg) McIntosh; Jeff Slakey; Gabriella, Marina, and Michael Morris, Jr.; Donovan Morris; Alison Herren Earnhardt (Joey); Matthew and Brittany Herren; Josh and Sean Price; one great grandchild, Jude Price. Memorial Service: 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church located at 3703 Old Petersburg Road in Martinez, Ga., with Pastor Stephen Olson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the Service in the fellowship hall of the church.
