Columnist shows her ignorance

Perhaps it is unfortunate that newspapers are suffering as a result, partly, of the current and historical economic downturn or recession. But if The Augusta Chronicle has to use up good editorial page space to publish some soporific drivel by columnist Michelle Malkin ("Meaty issue: Cube-steak Americans vs. the Wagyu-beef White House," March 9), then perhaps there is a good reason for some of our beloved daily publications to disappear.

Idiotic comments like "Obama's frantic effort to encourage more brainless home buying and consumer borrowing" shows the writer to be the brainless one. Or was there some part of the article that was edited out? Otherwise, under what rock does this uninformed and totally biased ninny crawl out from to generate this type of "journalism"? Talking about "cube steak dinner" compared to Wagyu-beef at the White House! Should they serve sardines and corned beef, or perhaps Spam?

Please, let's get real. Find some more substantive, level-headed commentators, especially on a Monday morning. Even Cal Thomas or Charles Krauthammer, biased as they tend to be at times, can be more even-handed, informed and worth reading.

Apoparently you people don't know the difference between opinion and "journalism". This woman writes an opinion column not "news stories". Dems don't like it very much if someone in the public eye counters their beliefs but let a celebrity Democrat say something and their word is gospel. All hail Hollywood!

JesusIsComing

Mr. Mottley, Yes, find "some more substantive, level-headed commentators" that use the following words to describe other opinion writers: "soporific drivel", "Idiotic", "brainless", "crawl out from . . . under what rock", "uninformed", "totally biased", "ninny"!

Mr/Ms Mottley has to be a living, breathing left wing give me all your money liberal. Liberals just cannot stand a conservative to speak of life without government assistance. Libs want the government to control everything we do. Sound familar...

Bizarro

It is an opinion article-no different than the DailyKos which is an opinion blog. Perhaps we should do away with both. Fairness doctrine will be no time not equal, hee, hee, hee. Since both likely pass misinformation and just opinion they serve no purpose.

Get a grip Mottley. Just as you are able to post your opinion, ignorant as it may be, Michelle Malkin can post hers, and have people pay for it, and include information to back up her conclusions. I applaud your emotional input, but in truth, your LTE seems just like more left wing effort to stifle any disagreement with your perspective. Kind of reminds me of the efforts of the thought police.

SouthernChic

I think what Mottley is stating is that it would be nice if the Augusta Chronicle had some opinion articles in here that aren't so slanted to the right. Granted the AC is mostly a conservative paper, but times are changing and there are some Democrats living in good ol' Augusta!

justus4

Good article. Of course Malkin writes opinions, but can't she find an opinion about something other than stupid comments about what the president eats? And then compare it to less fortunate diets, which implies that everyone should be eating the same thing. Further, it's an attempt to say, "he is eating good and think he is better than someone else" which is divisive. And that is her real objective, to create resentment among the public about the new president. However, according to this LTE, she was completely unsuccessful.

SouthernLady, the AC might not be a beacon of great journalistic skill, but they have the right to publish whatever they wish. If times are indeed changing, then left wingers should publish a newspaper. Problem is, just like in radio, not enough would buy the paper and it would not be economically feasible. But the government, I guess, could subsidize it and it might make a go of it.

patriciathomas

SouthernLady, all of the AP stories are slanted hard left and almost all of the AC news wire stories come from the AP. The editorial page, and opinion page, is tilted much more to the local opinion of conservative values.

Armywife

Maybe he just thought it was a poorly written opinion column, that the writer failed to communicate her opinion in a clear, concise manner.

And you Geistlich, are no gentleman. Didn't your Mother teach you any manners?

willistontownsc

I agree with the SouthernLady here. The idiot goons on 725 Broad Street and their minions are always attacking the NY Pro-Freedom Times for their opinion articles when in fact, the Chronicle is just as, if not more, slanted in the opposite direction.

Motorman5039

Amen A. Whitney Mottley, Amen. And willistontownsc you are abosolutely correct in your definition of the goons at 725 Broad Street!

Peterstealmore

whitney seems to fit right in with motormouth, and lil willie, with their liberal, socialist drivel!

So, go open up your own newspaper. Print what you wish. See how many you sell.

Mr Mottley, believe me Malkin obviously has more intellect in her little finger than you do between your ears in a vaccum? Her point was (and well taken) is that the President should set the TONE of our society and that TONE is abject in the suffering of millions who cannot now afford cube steak let alone $100 a pound steak and champaign, a high dollar bands and artists. Of course, being BimbObama, who can expect otherwise?

Southern Lady, times are different. You no longer have to pay to subscribe to like minded news outlets. You can go online and get what you want. Why complain about your local newspaper that doesn't subscribe to your views? You are totally free to branch out. Why complain about the hometown paper. Go where you want. Be happy. Spare us your complaints.
