An effective measure to employ with the "welfare broodmares" would be to tie their tubes or perform a hysterectomy after the first illegetimate child. Do not allow an opportunity for more than one welfare-benefits-sucking thug or thugette to be downloaded by the welfare queens.

Why worry? Make benefits available for the first one. If they make the same mistake again , stop the benefits. Can't just keep rewarding stupid.

Carolyn, your letter is just another effort to hold the ethnic person down. All of you anti-welfare people just want to hurt children. Lots of children, with lots of sperm donors for fathers. I can feel the hate in your letter. You write as though the taxes you pay isn't free government money available to anyone. Quit being so selfish and let the baby momma get on with their lives. And do something about that last name. A real American would be happy with Smith or Brown.

justus4, surely you realize that argument "more whites on welfare" always breaks down at the percentage of population, right? historically, this means that any comparison of numbers must include comparisons of population size, too. i have no idea where your military commentary was going, by the way; yes, the military lifestyle reflects a caste system due to rank segregation as a means of establishing hierarchy. but to answer your question: no, i cannot say socialist. do you know what socialism is, justus4, or did it just feel good to type that word onto a post (pretty much like you do with most other words / thoughts you misuse)?

There are people who really want to make something of themselves with an education, and possibly their own business, but have had a bad run of luck - we are compassionate people and want to help those in TRUE NEED, but there are those who take advantage of the GIVING and they exploit it to the fullest - anyone who disagrees with this is completely ignorant. WELFARE DESTROYS AMBITION!!! and it, along with Socialistic policies are going to ruin this country. Laziness is an economic disease, Welfare for the lazy is an economic disaster, and an economic disaster will make this country weak - especially in the eyes of our enemies - you Liberals chew on that for a while.

You would have to have DNA testing to see who the "baby daddy" actually is in many cases. Not only that, but when a woman has five kids by five different men, she is not only a beggar and stupid, she has no morals. Therefore, she would have no problem having the people who limit their number of children to the ones they can afford hand over their money. Life is about choices, consequences, and responsibility. Three words these women may have learned IF they had waited for the babies and stayed in school. One unplanned baby is a mistake. Four or five babies is just stupid. I had a baby....Give me money. All the welfare queens combined pale in comparison when it comes to the thievery of defense contractors, financial institutions & corrupt politicians on the take. Ronald Reagan rode into office complaining of welfare queens driving Cadillacs. He turned a blind eye to $800 toilet seats & $600 screwdrivers. The Bush admin handed out no bid contracts to Halliburton, KRB & hundreds of other "private contractors". Too-smart-by-half whiz kids invented financial tools like credit default swaps to fleece the public of $11 trillion in personal/private/household wealth. The collapse of the U.S. economic house of cards cannot be blamed on "lazy" breeders on the public dole. Of course that has been the gist of Republicans' "southern strategy" for decades now. Here is the bottom line truth: The south lags behind the northeast & other parts of the country in its approval rating of President Barack Obama because of latent RACISM which is construed/recast as other unrelated problems such as those expressed by the letter writer above. What is actually being expressed is thinly veiled RACISM which is endemic in the unreconstructed south. The NAACP is suing because banks fleeced qualified blacks.

justus4...I believe you logic is flawed. 1) There is no comparison between a military retirement and a welfare entitilement program. 2) I do believe if you check statistics that minorities have a much larger number of people on welfare as compared to percentage of population. Yes there are whites on welfare. But as I drove by the county welfare office on my way to work every day for years I would guess that in Augusta it is about 10 to 1 minority to white while the percentage of population is a little over 50% in RC. The point that the writer makes is that there should be no institutional welfare for anyone and she is right. The liberals have addicted an entire segment of our population to welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing and free health care. Those people will always be the "poor" no matter which party is in power because they have no will to go out and do better by working for what they get so they will always be in the same situation that they were born into. The big problem with that is that their numbers are growing and the government wants to take more of my money to support their sorry worthless hides and to build more jails to hold their heathen thieving kids.

How much of the laziness manifested today by our youth and our not-so-young-anymore is not a consequence of government welfare but of the Daddy- and Mommy-dole? The numbers of sorry folk with west Augusta and northern Columbia County addresses are staggering.

Strange the writter didn't complain about the special "set assides" for female owned small business programs. You know the ones with grants and zero interest loans. But, if she had then she would have placed herself in the same category as the people she complained about who take government money. I do however, fully agree about making people work and putting dead beat sperm donors in jail. But that isn't going to happen because we all must be first and foremost P.C. with everything in life. And that also includes being sympathetic to female small business owners.

justus4-- I am also a wife of a retired military man. Some of your above statements is not true. We only lived in military housing while living in Hawaii. Stateside we rented civilian housing or bought a house. Size of housing was based more on the number of children a couple had, not rank. I was a stay at home Mom and we never have asked for a handout. We got paid once a month and you stretched that pay-check out for the month. In the old days if a woman in service got pregnant she was out--no maternity uniforms. We had dress codes- wives could not go on post with curlers in their hair, short shorts or any form of indecent clothing. GI's could not go to restaurants in fatigue's, had to spit shine their boots---Oh for the good old days!! SusieQ

Hey SusieQ, I remember the days when I was a kid, and to go into any facilities on the base/post, a female had to wear a skirt. "We're going to the commissary, go put on a skirt so you can get in!" "Your brother has to go to the dispensary, go put on a skirt, you can't go like that, your father will get in trouble!" It was a happy day when they rescinded those regs. PS Remember how long the 31-day months seemed, and February was the best month of the year?

I'm always amazed at how much hatred is directed at welfare recipients. Welfare is temporary assistance and the majority of recipients have either one or two children. It is a block grant, so as more people get on the welfare roles, it means they get a smaller piece of the pie, not that it is costing Joe Taxpayer more.
Ironic isn't it that the same people who decry welfare are so anti-choice.
Certainly a welfare queen working a minimum wage job would be rich after paying for childcare, transportation to work, an appropriate wardrobe for work, etc.

SusieQ, my family was canned Chef-Boy-R-Dee lasagna, and Banquet chicken pot pies and Banquet fried chicken TV dinners. To this day, I will not eat any of those things. As an E-3 wife, at the end of the month, it was fried egg sandwiches.

Where has anyone blamed the collapse of the US economic house of cards on welfare queens and kings? We do blame the cradle to grave entitlement mentality for the reason we are not more productive as a society. There is way too much government money (productive persons') spent on those recipients. The collapse of the housing market had its own separate reasons, with the Democrats more at fault than the Repubs because they were obstructionists when it came time to try to avert the collapse. I believe there are plenty of conservatives who are against the so called corporate welfare and the waste of the Defense Department. Seems to me that when the Defense Department wastes money with $800 toilet seats and $10,000 screws, like the woman in SC sold, there would be some government oversight to catch that. I don't think it's our job as citizens to be policing that. Cain, you ought to know that the reason people express outrage with welfare queens is that they see them and deal with them everyday. Overpriced defense spending in not in the public view. The public is not directly affected by that. Besides, the welfare cheats cheat us out of both federal, state, and local tax dollars.

Justass4, socialism has nothing to do with the miitary's separation of its members by rank but has to do solely with maintaining military discipline. Officers do NOT eat in separate facilities, but in troop dining facilities (mess halls to us old troopers), are separated in housing by not only rank, but size of family, and officer's clubs are just about extinct at least in the Army in favor of "community clubs" that officers do not frequent as they (wislely) do not eat or drink with those they command an have to lead into combat. So, one might say that to a large extend, the military has become "socialist" in many ways. BTW, color of one's skin has NOTHING to do with any of the above. As for more whites being on welfare than blacks, that is only natural in that whites are about 80% of the total population and blacks only about 14%. I realize this is probably above your head but try to understand anyhow.

This is the very reason the South is a much less expensive place to live than those northern union states. BTW, FYI, BJ Cliton gave a no-bid Defense contract to Halliburton in the Balkans.

I believe those in ColCo are more educated(generally) than those in RC (average Republicans are more educated than average DIMs) , thus able to give their kids more including a college education that they can use to be productive in our society. Yes, there are some miscreants everywhere, but .like I said, compare CC to RC and see who has the least. BTW, I don't live in CC so have no axe to grind.

There is NO SUCH thing as a socialist state. The Pro-Union Yankee States tend to have its employees last longer because the unions force companies to adopt safe working conditions. The Southern anti-worker rights states, such as the Two-State area, don't adopt these policies, and thus, the working conditions are much worse here than in New York City.

Oh and yeah, this region is very RACIST. Thank you, Cain, for stating the obvious, even if the cons stay in denial.
