Democrats just don't understand

  • Follow Letters

For the benefit of letter writer Leon Cominsky ("Right-wingers showing their hypocrisy," March 9): The president can only accomplish what the House and Senate will allow him to do. Since most Democrats are suffering from memory loss, remember this: The Democrats have been in control of both houses since 2002. So soon we forget when it suits us and we blindly go forward.

If it were not for the supposed wealthy, who would provide jobs for the aforementioned mindless Democrats? When you tax the wealthy, they just lay off people who needs jobs, but for some reason, Democrats just don't understand.

Richard Peyton

Shhhhhhh, you're not supposed

Shhhhhhh, you're not supposed to add truth to the conversation. It's only entertainment just like Conservative Talk Radio. The weak minded will pick it up and treat it like it was the gospel. They have a right to lie you know. Besides, the country was in such terrible shape that's the only way for him to rationalize it, the Democrats must have been in charge.

Can you say "Executive

Can you say "Executive Order"? GAC I note you and fred are as arrogant as some of our legislators. You both probably use Blueteeths. Think I can get some stimulus money to study the effects of prolonged use of a Bluetooth (Will in turn your teeth blue?). I can employ 100 people and "I" can get rich, apply for a job in the Obama administration and not have to pay any taxes (at least until nomination).

So they got control in 2006

So they got control in 2006 instead. Such a big deal for you two. Typical, find the one error and marginalize everything the person said.

Mr Peyton, 2002 is when the right got control of congress. 2006 is when they lost it. The 4 years the right controlled congress, the country recovered from an attack and prospered. That would have never happened if the left had controlled congress this entire time. Our current recession would be a deep, deep depression. Not that it still can't reach that level with our current political situation.

patriciathomas... Be honest!!

patriciathomas... Be honest!! When Conservatives controlled both houses & the Presidency they specifically lied about the country's circumstances and now we are living through the effects of years of lies. They told us the economy was strong, even when leading economists were saying we were in a recession as far back as 2006. They said we were winning the war in Iraq, but ground generals were asking for more soldiers. Only until Gen Petreaus was assigned to Iraq and increase troop strength, fire Rumsfeld for Gates, and respect the Iraqi's request to give a timeline to leave did thing get better. You have blurred way way of defending Conservative failures of half truths or outright lies. That' sexactly why Conservatives lost as bad as they did. I have been noticing that all of the Conservative States that gave back all the tax cuts to the wealthiest people are all broke. GA, SC, FL, AL, LA, & TX are going as far as to layoff teachers & government employees. Honest insight might help your moral, self righteous party if they were truly honest. They didn't do the country any favors by lacing their policies with lies.

Some merit cparker, even a

Some merit cparker, even a little fact. The dow was at 14,000 and unemployment was at 4.7% under Bush. It's hard to say things are better now. The only ones saying the economy was bad under Bush was left wing politicos and their supporters. Is 7,000 on the dow and 8% unemployment better? Was the 7,000 on the dow and 7.5% unemployment under Clinton better? Your facts don't jive with your fantasy and anger. But, you are a good Dem.

cparker, could you explain your statement, "I have been noticing that all of the Conservative States that gave back all the tax cuts to the wealthiest people are all broke. GA, SC, FL, AL, LA, & TX are going as far as to layoff teachers & government employees". I apologize, but I don't understand what you are saying. First, how do states control federal tax breaks? How are blue states like California, New York, and New Jersy doing?

Hey folks, put your thinking

Hey folks, put your thinking caps on. The last time we had a balanced budget was under Bill Clinton and a Republican congress. President from one party, congress from the other. Checks and balances. It worked. Now, I am a Republican but I don't think the spending thing went too well under George Bush and a Republican congress. Spending was out of control. Now we have Barack Obama and a completely nuts Democrat congress and spending is outrageous. Things never go well when one party is in control and the stupid electorate can't seem to figure this out. Absolute power is bad no matter which party is in control. The spending by the current administration led by Nancy Pelosi and the move to socialism is disasterous. These policies will cripple this country. Anyone with the slightest bit of common sense knows we cannot sustain the amount of deficit spending and the socialist programs being implemented. Here we have proof that NO PARTY should ever control the House, Senate, and Presidency at the same time. It is a formula for disaster and we have seen it brewing for 8 years and now it is really bubbling and boiling over. This country made a big mistake and their children will suffer.

cparker: Thank you for the enlightment. It just goes to show we can't trust patricia thomas to give us any unbiased comments when he is still bitter about the election. Just like Hannity, he's still talking about Jeremiah Wright this late in the game. He is a kool-aid follower of Rush and all the hot air that traitor to America put out on the radio. Thanks again Cparker, we know who to listen to in the future. The economy just did't go south in a one month period. That bush man just ignored what was happening because his approval rating was at 13%. He gave the finger to Americans. We were so proud to see that helicopter lift off headed to Texas. HELLO! HELLO! Look like the markets are ralling again today. This should make Rush and patricia thomas very sad. This Obama man and his economic team is doing a great job remaking America and regaining respect from our allies. We are all very proud. HELLO! HELLO!

That's why the Gov. of Calif.

That's why the Gov. of Calif. says bring the money on. Pride goes before the fall. No time to be proud just because you're not the one unemployed and you're trying to get redemption from your conservative base. Extreme conservatives are a dying breed. That old hate filled bible thumping crowd will soon go the way of the dinasaur. Instead of hiding behind the bible, they need to get into the bible. Try reading the "sermon on the mount" They are so hypocritical and one day they will answer.
jboy: Name calling? Is that something you learned from your parents around the dinner table? You're not alone. HELLO! HELLO! HELLO!

The wealthy ousourced jobs

The wealthy ousourced jobs over the last several decades in order to avoid paying thier fair share of taxes. The middle class was squeezed as massive amounts of wealth were shifted from them to the richest 10%. Corporations who made fortunes on the freedoms of this country acted neither ethically or responsibly, and yet cons always want to let them off the hook, as if they had absolutely nothing to do with the creation of this mess and were just innocent victims. In the 70,s, the ratio of CEO pay to workers' pay was about 35 to 1. Today it's about 275 to 1. I happen to think that is not fair. If you cons are okay with that, I cannot understand it. Also the LTE is wrong in stating that Dems controlled both houses since 2002. While you carp about dems vs repubs, and make McCarthyite accusations and conduct witch hunts about socialism and Marxism, which is absurd, you fail to blame the real scoundrels, and ironically blame the victims. If you are not rich yourselves, you too are victims of these failed free market policies, which is something "Republicans just don't understand".
