'Coraline'

RELEASED: Feb. 6

MPAA RATING: PG

THE STORY: Based on the children's book of the same name, this movie is about a restless and curious girl who discovers an alternate version of her life. At first, everything in her alternate world is perfect, but when presented with a choice to stay forever or try to escape, Coraline begins to see things for what they are. Her dream world soon becomes a nightmare.

MY THOUGHTS: The colorful characters, tasteful stop-motion animation, and offbeat story make for a unique evening at the movies. It is being screened in 3-D, which makes sense, and enhances the novelty of this dark fairy tale.

This movie might have scared me as a child. If you have little brother or sister who liked A Nightmare Before Christmas, take them. If your little sibling just sticks with the Disney princesses, pass on this one.
