6-year-old fire victim's condition still critical

A 6-year-old girl rescued from a south Augusta house fire late Friday night remained in critical condition at a hospital Sunday.

Shakira Rouse was still in the intensive care unit of the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center on Sunday, said Medical College of Georgia spokeswoman Denise Parrish,

The child was pulled from the house in the 3200 block of Kevin Drive by neighbors. The girl's mother, Yolanda Hankerson, 36, died at the scene, and her sister Laquisha Rouse, 9, and cousin Zyon Nelson, 4, died at the hospital Saturday.

Investigators say they think the fire started at the kitchen stove, where Ms. Hankerson had been cooking.

Autopsy set for woman found dead after blaze

By the time firefighters arrived, the mobile home was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Aiken County Forensic Division.

Mr. Carlton said the woman's identity will not be released until her family is notified.

You release her exact address

You release her exact address but not the name until family notified? Might as well print the name, I know the addresses of everyone in my family, and if I had a doubt on the house number it wouldn't take but a minute to look it up. What a horrible way to find out about the death of a family member!!

What if it is her house? Why take that chance? They didn't put the exact address of the 6 year old who lost all of her family. Whats is the difference between the two?

PatriciaThomas- You should go on the Aiken Standard and talk with 'Bruce'. I'm sure you two would have so much in common, as you both 'KNOW" everything, at least that's what you both think!! You know, it doesn't pay you to think somedays!

If the Forensic Department

If the Forensic Department and SLED are involved, then something is wrong and it's not being considered accidental. My guess is they published the address because they are looking for witnesses and/or someone to establish a positive identification for her.
