AIKEN, S.C. - SPC Paul Michael Conner, 44, United States Army, Ret., son of Michele Berti Conner and MSG Thomas Williams, United States Army Ret., died suddenly Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Temple, TX. Born in Columbus, GA, he had been a resident of Aiken, SC, prior to relocating to Killeen, TX, three years ago. A Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Paul was a kind and caring person who always put the needs and concerns of others above his. He felt strongly about veterans causes and was active in both the American Legion and the V.F.W. in Killeen, TX. Paul enjoyed gardening, music, his computer, and cooking. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Mary Berti, Houston, PA; siblings, Pauline Conner, Aiken, SC, Charles Conner, Warrenville, SC, William Conner, Warrenville, SC, Grace Williams, Aiken, SC, Tami Conner, Gate City, VA, Mary Conner, Aiken, SC, Sharon Tatum, Cleveland, OH, Deaserre Williams, Clarksville, TN and Atoysha Chester, Atlanta, GA; nephews, Charles Conner, Jr., Cameron Williams, and Dominic Shinn. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 11th, 2009, at 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Mark Hudson officiating. Interment with Veterans Honors will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. The family will greet friends Wednesday, March 11th, 2009, from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
