EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Edna Forbes Johnston, 96, of Evans, Ga., entered into rest March 4, 2009, at Kentwood in Augusta, Ga. She was the beloved wife of the late William Giles Johnston. Services will be held Saturday, March 7, at 2PM, at Journey Community Church, 4798 Hardy McManus Rd., Evans, Ga., with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Survivors include: Daughters: Janice Askew and her husband, Willard of Thomson, Ga., Louise Colvin and her husband, Ron of Evans, Ga.; Grandchildren: Charles Swint, Jan Phelps and her husband, Steve, Butch Askew and his wife, Rene, Clayton Colvin and his wife, Adrienne; Great-grandchildren: Erin Phelps, Raley Askew, Connor Askew, Abby Colvin, Ansley Colvin and Will Colvin; Sister-in-law: Mrs. Claude Forbes (Doris); Nieces: Marcia Lane and Beth Forbes Nelson; Nephew: George W. Forbes, Jr. Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Forbes Lane and brothers, C. Claude Forbes and George W. Forbes, Sr. Mrs. Johnston was born in Augusta, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Charles Claudius Forbes and the late Bessie Metts Forbes. She was a graduate of Tubman High School, the Barrett School of Nursing Class of 1936 and was a member of the University Hospital Nursing Alumnae. Mrs. Johnston was retired as a Registered Nurse from the University Hospital. She was also a member of Riverside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
