Legal abortion amounts to genocide

  • Follow Letters

Long before this nation careened head-on into a financial crisis, it encountered a moral one.

On Jan. 22, 1973, seven of nine Supreme Court justices declared that we had advanced far enough as a civilization to give women the right to terminate their unborn children.

Roe v. Wade has had a cataclysmic impact on our society, starting with the loss of approximately 50 million lives and precipitating the emotional devastation of millions of women. From a strictly financial perspective, many millions, had they been given the opportunity of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," would now be working, paying taxes, contributing to Social Security and leading productive lives. ...

Now enters Barack Obama who, during the presidential campaign, said determining when a child had human rights was "above my pay grade." Most know, however, that President Obama believes that unborn children are not human and have no rights. Obama demonstrated his callousness when, as an Illinois state senator, he alone argued from the chamber floor against the Child Born Alive Bill, which protected children who survived abortion. He later said that "my daughters should not be punished with a baby." ...

Obama has a voice but no message. He has ears but no desire to hear the truth. He has eyes but no vision. He has a heart but no compassion. He has a brain but no wisdom.

The tragedy is that blacks suffer disproportionately from abortion. While they make up 12 percent of the population, they account for 33 percent of abortions. One of every two black pregnancies ends in abortion. Blackgenocide.org, a Web site created by Clenard Childress, a black minister from New Jersey, exposes the harm inflicted on the black community by abortion and the lies of the abortion industry.

While Obama fiddles with our economic woes, he plans to broaden access to abortion and eliminate our greatest asset: our people. How is it possible for a nation to prosper when it practices genocide?

Jim Irish

I'm sure this will be a rich, rich series of posts. I can't wait to read the same people who decry what they see as the underachieving entitlement class (most stop just short of slapping a color on it, such restraint!) sucking up unearned benefits they worked their lily white fingers to the bone providing pivot and weep over unborn black babies. ARe you doing anything to help these women, except trying to cut off funds for birth control and prenatal care, and then railing at them for having an abortion? The letter writer may care, but in most cases, this line of "reasoning" is nothing more than disingenuous at best and a particularly cynical tactic at worst.

Jim, Great letter. Sadly, we all knew who Obama was before electing him. Many decry "single issue" voting but when that single issue is life itself - well, it's worth my vote.

This has got to be the worst

This has got to be the worst letter from an African-American in a long time. Denying our black sisters the right to abortion is akin to not just slavery, but gynocide as well. As an African-American, this LTE writer should know better to gather info from the likes of the National Right to Life Committee and the KKK -- both of whom oppose civil rights right down to the core. Anti-choice groups don't care about us during or after we're born. That's the truth, although it is politically incorrect.

This is one of the best

This is one of the best arguments that I have heard for abortion. Why do you think we would be better off with 50 million more people in our Country? There is not enough work for the people we have now. Talk about medical, welfare and education added to what we already have, you make a great case to keep unwanted fetuses to term. Yes I certainly believe God does have a plan.

Posted by donnymack on Wed Mar 4, 2009 9:16 AM....so why not euthanize old folks who are a drain on our health care system and welfare programs? hy not euthanize kids with "special needs" who will never contribute anything to society but are a drain on our health care system and education?

GROUSE, I'm glad your mother
Unpublished

GROUSE, I'm glad your mother didn't feel that way. And WILLISTON, please tell me what choice the baby has in an abortion? Please tell me what rights the baby has in an abortion? And, please tell me how ripping a baby out of his mother's womb is okay but putting some dirtbag to death after he willingly murders 4 people is unconstitutional.

Denying women the RIGHT to

Denying women the RIGHT to abortion IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL because it is an infringement upon the 14th Amendment of equal protection, the 15th Amendment, and (although Roe was not decided on this) the 13th Amendment. The death penalty is the TAKING of an ACTUAL human's life. Read grouse's post. If YOU don't understand that by now, then you are willfully ignorant and SEXIST, southernguy.

Its called free will. It

Its called free will. It will never be overturned. Women have the right to do what they want with their bodies. Always have-always will, it is just legalities. Moral? Well, that is up each one of us. No u.s. government will ever tell women what to do with their bodies. The writer assumes that these"millions" that have never had the chance to work, get educated and be productive members of society, how can he assume that they would have been any of those things?

willistontownsc If a fetus

willistontownsc If a fetus is not an actual human being, than an abortion wouldn't be necessary. IF you don't understand that by now, it is because you choose to remain willfully ignorant of scientific fact: human life begins at conception.

Free will is one thing. But

Free will is one thing. But consequences follow. If you murder babies there is going to be a domino effect of problems, physically, emotionally and spiritually, whether it is legal or not. Women have the right to do what they want with their bodies, but the fetus is NOT their body. It is an individual human being, whether the law recognizes that or not. Women do not have the right to kill another human being.

Thanks Jim for your message.

Thanks Jim for your message. There is no greater cause than defending the defenseless. Abortion is an act of violence against an innocent child and it must stop. Unfortunately, there are still many, like those commenting above who fight hard for the right for mommies and daddies to rip their babies to pieces.

baroness, you DON'T believe in free will. Your 16:52 post makes that pretty clear. So why don't you pucker up and support government interference in every little thing we do? It is no different that supporting government interference in women's lives.

willistontownsc there is

willistontownsc there is nothing in that post (4:52pm for us civilians) that indicates I don't believe in freewill. I do believe in free will. God gave us free will and no matter what we choose to do, right or wrong, there are consequences. I don't support excess government interference in every little thing we do, but murdering babies is no little thing.
