Evolution letter missed key points

In regard to Johnnie Poole's letter to the editor (" 'Design' is not all that intelligent," Feb. 21), he stated that evolution is driven by successful reproduction. Reproduction, in itself, is a clear indication of design. Does he think the first beings were asexual? This would have to be the case if the species were to continue.

And his so-called "clear transitional path" to the eye is full of suppositional puzzle pieces that could not possibly lead to such a complex organ. Organisms would need a "motivation" that would signal a need for change from rudimentary to complex, but there is none in the natural world.

The statement he makes concerning "the back and foot look exactly as though they had evolved" falls in line with all evolutionary dogma espoused today. Similarities in appearance or function are not evidence of evolution but common designer whose designs are superior. Consider the brain, the organs and the systems that work harmoniously together, through which we could not survive if one were missing. Perhaps Mr. Poole has bad feet and a bad back, but mine work exceptionally well.

God created a perfect world in which man totally fouled up by disobeying Him. This is the reason there is death, disease and destruction -- and bad backs and feet.

I would also be cautious of calling the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and holy Creator of the universe cruel and incompetent.

i'm too stupid to understand science, therefore everything was magically created by my god fairy.

"God created a perfect world in which man totally fouled up by disobeying Him." I'm sorry, but that's the most stupid ignorant fantasy I ever heard of. Grow up weirdo.

bobxxxx

"I would also be cautious of calling the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and holy Creator of the universe cruel and incompetent." Look it weirdo, your invisible friend doesn't even exist.

Sorry Christian hicks. Darwin killed your god invention. You're going to have to find some other hobby. Your Christian death cult is obsolete.

"Organisms would need a 'motivation' that would signal a need for change from rudimentary to complex, but there is none in the natural world." Joe Rich, you don't understand how evolution works. Natural selection means whoever survives long enough and successfully reproduces, passes its genes on to the next generation. Favorable mutations eventually spread throughout the population, and over vast periods of time, new species gradually develop, and organs like eyes gradually improve. Why don't you try studying science, instead of wasting your time reading your worthless bible. Before you start studying science, you got to get rid of your childish belief in magic. There's no magic in the universe. Everything you see is the result of natural processes. Try to remember this is the 21st century and not the Dark Ages.

It should be obvious to all that there are still Christians around today that regret the fact that they are 2000 years too late to be martyred in a Roman arena by gladiators and lions. GGpap

bobxxxx, I think you need to go to the head of the line. You're short a couple mutations!

Who gave the very first scientists a clue bobx?...Who made the very first scientist?....Who gave him or her the thought process' to put down the very first formula? Who figured out the first time/space continuum? Who stepped first onto the balcony in space needing no light and saw you bobx?

Monday must be Monkey Day at the Chronicle. Why don't they just make this a "department." They can call it The Monkey Monologues.

bobxxxx your stupidity is absolutely amazing. Alll Christian do not believe in creationism but many of us do believe that God did create the universe with a Big Bang and the earth in it as well as its in habitants. We also believe that evolution is God's over all plan. You may choose not to believe in God, but to say we who do are weird, you need to look in the mirror as you are indeed a minority. BTW, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in which I did study the origin and evolution of the unitverse/earth. I also studied the bible and find nothing that refutes evolution, just written in terms understood my ancient man beginning about 4000 years ago.

jack: bobxxx was not referring to you, but to the Creationists / IR'ers
who reject the mechanism of evolution. Those people are indeed morons, or to be a bit more politically correct, cognitively challenged. You, jack, claim to be an enlightened Christian who accepts the mechanism of evolution but claims it is "God's over all [sic] plan." This is a rather pathetic effort to "save the appearances," that is to avoid being tarred as an ignorant, anti-science fundamentalist while retaining a belief in a divinity at the same time. Bottom line is you believe in evolution! Welcome, at least partly, to the modern, and I might add, real world. Now this next part will be lost on you, but here goes. The principle of Occam's razor applies here. Occam, by the way, was a Christian who argued that explanations should make as few assumptions as possible. Applied to you, that means Darwinian evolution BY ITSELF is able to explain speciation (not the origin of life, a very different matter) and does not need "God."

Sometimes it hurts to be you doesn't it eel?...

effete elitist liberal

jack and bobxxx: jack's claim that he has read the Bible and finds nothing there inconsistent with evolution is absurd on its face. Jack, you must have skipped a few chapters, like, say, Genesis? As I recall the Genesis myth, God created man and woman from "the dust of the ground" on, I think it was, a Saturday. Evolution says man descended from earlier, more primitive organisms, not "dust"! Pretty much a basic inconsistency I'd say. I invite you to respond with an incisive explanation of why "God made man from dust" and "man descended from more primitive primates" are really the same thing. Remember, no "metaphors" allowed-- that would be cheating for a "real" Christian!

effete elitist liberal

no, it just feels good to be smarter than you, cretan134....

christian134

:-) and here is another :-) Just for you eel...

Bizarro

Intellectual elitism demonstrates ignorance and stupidity rather than intellect.

Mr. Rich, if indeed Mr. Poole "has bad feet or a bad back," do you mean to imply that he is being punished by God for accepting the theory of evolution? Has God spared your feet and back because you do not accept it? According to Genesis, it was Adam's and Eve's arrogance that caused them to disobey God by trying to demonstrate they knew better than He did. We're all guilty of that kind of arrogance, practically every day.

doubt-it

God is the ultimate evolved human feature. Check various religions and cultures. Prehistoric man enjoyed paganism and & polytheism. As did the Greeks, Egyptians and Romans. Then there came the Yahweh of Moses, who later evolved into God and finally Allah. You can watch him magically appear and evolve. Or did he create himself? Now that's intelligent design!

disssman

I wonder if the writter thinks Adam and Eve were asexual? Just tell me where their sons got females to marry. And where the He-- is Nod? I think this crack pot is the poster boy for stupidity and if he is representative of what religion will do for a person, please leave me out. I believe there is a higher order of intelligence in the universe and whether you want to call that entity god or Yawaa is fine with me, as long as i don" have to agree with you. BTW if God created the universe, where was he standing. Almost like what came first the chicken or the egg.
