NASCAR newsmaker

Kyle Busch became the first driver in NASCAR history to win two national touring races -- the Camping World Truck and Nationwide series -- in the same day on Saturday at Auto Club Speedway. His attempt to win three over the weekend came up short on Sunday with a third-place finish in the Sprint Cup Series race.

Busch talked about his attempt to win all three. Here are excerpts of that interview:

Q: Were you satisfied with a third-place finish in Sunday's race?

A: It was a good run for us. It was a decent run for us. We started out (running) sixth to 10th and worked our way up there. Got up to fifth, then got up to fourth, and finally there we ended up third. It was a real good solid run for us. I just wish we were a little bit better.

Q: So, it was a good weekend?

A: It was a great weekend. We had a great run there. We wish we could have been a little bit better, but a third-place finish isn't too bad.

Q: Did you ever think you could win Sunday?

A: No, I felt like we got to third, if I could ever challenge those guys (Matt Kenseth and Jeff Gordon), then maybe. But I couldn't even challenge them.
