DOUGLAS, Ga. - Gerald Francis Courson, age 78, of Douglas Ga., passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at home after an extended illness. Mr. Courson, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born October 17, 1930; he is the son of the late Annie Mae Courson. He was a Mobile home maintenance person. Survivors include: sons, Timothy Ray Courson, Eatonton, Ga. & Gerald Lavan Courson, Fitzgerald, Ga.; daughters, Mary Frances Abshire, Augusta Ga., Donna Ann Courson, & Velvet Ann Kirkland, Douglas Ga.; brother, Wesley Courson, Lakeland Fla.; grandchildren, Rusty Courson, Billy Cliett, Warren Cliett, Richard Cliett, Joshua Kirkland, & Brady Courson. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Sims Funeral Home Chapel. Special taped selections of "Go Rest High On That Mountain" & "When I Get Where I'm Going." Burial followed in the Chatterton Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Gerald Courson, Timothy Courson, Rusty Courson, Billy Cliett, Warren Cliett & Richard Cliett, Joshua Kirkland & Ronald Lamar Amerson. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
