Catherine Ivey Frost (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Catherine Ivey Frost, of Rhonda Dr., entered into rest Thursday, February 19, 2009, at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2009, at 2:00 PM, from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with the Reverends Billy Atkins and Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Mrs. Frost was born in Augusta on September 29, 1924. She was a member of the Fleming Baptist Church and the Encourages Sunday School Class. She was a Charter Member of South Haven Baptist Church. She was a member of the Jack C. Fortune American Legion Auxillary. She served as president for ten terms. She held numerous other offices in the Auxillary and was honored with Life Membership for her devoted service. She also served as President of the 10th and 11th District American Legion Auxillary. She was the Charter President of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxillary Post 649. She served as hospital representative for the State of Georgia American Legion Auxillary at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta. She received an award for 4,471 hours of volunteer service. She was preceded in death by her parents Emma Blanche and Richard Harold Ivey, and her beloved husband, Walter Frost, Jr. She is survived by sons and daughter in law, Harold Frost, of Augusta, Michael and Helen Frost of Martinez, daughter and son in law, Marsha F and William Whalen of Marietta; four granddaughters, Stephanie D. Whalen, Roswell, GA, Monica N. Whalen, Marietta, Jacqueline and her husband, Chris Holsonbake, and Tiffany and her husband, Scott Usry, all of Martinez; four great grandchildren, Ansley and Brantley Holsonbake, and Katelynn and Dylan Usry, all of Martinez. Pallbearers will be Deacons of Fleming Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Encourages Sunday School Class and the Jack C. Fortune American Legion Auxillary.
