Charles, if you are a republican, I must ask...aren't you actually practicing the habit of the "pot calling the kettle black?" GGpap
Since Lowell Greenbaum can't deliver more than one letter to the editor of partisan verbal vomit to The Augusta Chronicle a month, he's got his wife contributing. Gloria Greenbaum, true to her husband's position, is posting the same whining drivel ("GOP still up to its old partisan tricks," Feb. 17).
With both houses of Congress as well as the White House controlled by Democrats, and George W. Bush gone, Democrats are hearing something they're not used to: criticism. This pork-loaded stimulus package; former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich trying to sell a U.S. Senate seat; and now Sen. Roland Burris being alleged as a perjurer are all embarrassments.
How do you get the voters' minds off such things? Easy: You attack a Republican -- this time, Sen. Judd Gregg for "besmirching" President Obama's administration by changing his mind to join them. Too bad Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner didn't decide to besmirch when it was learned about his convenient failure to pay his taxes.
I'll tell Gloria like I would Lowell: If that's the best she can do, good luck! You'll be a fund-raising magnet for the Republicans, and 2010 is just around the corner!

It's Lowell's job to be rabidly partisan and it's his right as a husband to usurp his wife's name for this purpose.
get rid of both parties and put real americans who love their country in office. the dems and the repubs have both had their days in office. what will it take for the people in our nation to see that these two parties are not in touch with what the majority of americans in our nation want and need.
what would george washington, thomas jefferson and ben franklin think about this mess we now have in washington, dc?
wise up people and throw these clowns out of office before america is flushed down the toilet!
I actually have to agree with the writer if this letter, one of the good things that could happen to Augusta is probably an obit on GREENBUM. In all the years he has never ever ever had a kind word for the other political party at all and is VERY QUICK to jump on the other party. I think there are issues with both parties, it comes from something called greed, Lowell if you don't think Obama is a crook as well as the rest your actually not a smart as I give you credit for.
I have to disagree with Justus (no surprise there) The American people are starting to see behind the curtain of the dem nonsense. Approval ratings are down 5% since last month for our dear leader. I think 2010 is going to be a bad election year for dems. The campaign was brilliant and captivating, but now its time to get stuff done and it is starting to stink. The spell is wearing off. choo choo
Let me ask a question about this underwater bs. So if the value of the house you live in drops, how does that matter in the long run? You agreed to pay a mortgage based on the value of the house at the sale. So perhaps you cant get as much in a equity line if credit for the granite countertops, but really, if you bought a house and plan to stay for a while (thats why you buy vs. rent) how does the value dropping affect your mortgage? I mean, if you buy a new car, it depreciates quickly and you will be upside down for a while until you build equity. whats the diff?
All this noise about the "Stimulus Program" and the way it has been mishandled by Congress and the pandering politicians are proof positive why TERM LIMITS are essential from the Court House to the White House.
John the bad part about the underwater BS is that if the house gets foreclosed the bank cant recoup the ammount loaned by selling the property, the housing bubble had too many investors and roll-over purchases, versus home owners planning to live in the home they bought
The letter writer is spot on. The Greenbums are pathetic, rabid partisan DIMocRATS.
This LTE is pathetic. HE just can't stand the fact that we went after his partisan thugs for six whole years until January 20 and now he don't like what we are doing. Well, tough.
Hate to say it, but I agree with americanveteran. We need to do away with the two-party system. Lately, we have had nothing but DINOs, especially here in the South. We need people in DC who actually give a damn about our nation.
Obama's stimulus package will be a huge failure. Just look at how the stock market is reacting to it.
I'd be embarrassed to be called the party of Nancy Pelosi
Both political parties have manipulated us into nothing more than cheerleaders for our team. No matter which side wins we end up with them implementing programs and spending money on stuff that we do not agree with at all. But once they are in office we cheerleaders have to keep cheering for them because they are our team and if we don't cheer for them then that means we were stupid when we supported them. Neither party represents the middle of the road, common sense majority in this country at all. Our two party system no longer works for the benefit of the majority of the people. Both parties exist only to perpetuate themselves and the control of our money. Just like the unions only exist to perpetuate the unions. They do not care about what is good for the country and the middle of the road working class people. They pander to certain segments of the poplulation in order to get elected and get control of our money and we, the people who pay the taxes, get little or no benefit. But yea, our team is in power. I should say your team is in power. Took them 30 days to double the Bush budget deficit. That's progress...but woohoo, your team is in power. Got to go, my 401k crying.
Williston, you are truly pathetic. People read your comments and horse laugh you. Your not even a decent Liberal, if there is one.
