CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Dorothy G. Roland, 73, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Augusta, GA, passed away on February 17, 2009 at Levine-Dickson Hospice. She was born on April 4, 1935 in New London, CT, a daughter of the late Aloyisius and Mary Doyle Gatheral; and wife to her beloved late husband of 52 years, William Roland. Mrs. Roland worked as a book-keeper at the Tri-Check Seed Co. and at Roland Paint and Body, Co. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Augusta, GA. Mrs. Roland was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed following Masters City Little League Baseball, Junior Golf at Goshen Plantation, and her beloved dog, Bo Bo. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren Elizabeth and Matthew. She is survived by her son, Chris Roland and his wife, Shannon, and two grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Roland, all of Charlotte; brother Francis Gatheral of Uncasville, CT and sister Margaret LaLima of Waterford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd., Charlotte, with the Reverend Francis O'Rourke, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:30 until the time of the Prayer Service at 7 o'clock, at Harry & Bryant Company, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. The family would like to thank the staff at the Laurel's in Pineville and at Levine-Dickson Hospice for their loving care.
