AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Helen "Aileen" Hitchcock Allen completed her life's journey February 14, 2009 and is now with the Lord she loved and served for all the days of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; her beloved husband, Jett W. Allen, Jr.; and her daughter, Judy Ann Allen Kennedy. She was born in Arizona and grew up in New Mexico. When she married, she moved to Texas where she raised her family first in San Antonio and then in Alice. She taught a children's Sunday School class for over twenty years at the Alice First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the chancel choir there and she was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She moved to Georgia in 1995, joined the Martinez United Methodist Church in 1996, and made a wonderful life here. She was a Sunday School Teacher for the Drop-In Class and the New Beginnings Class. She was a member of the Magruder Circle of the United Methodist Women. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jett W. Allen, III and Lynda; her grandson, Robert C. Allen, Muleshoe, Texas; and her granddaughter, Ashley C. Allen, Charleston, S.C. Following her wishes, her body was donated to the Medical College of Georgia. A memorial service to remember and celebrate her life will be held this Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Martinez United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martinez United Methodist Church, 3614 Washington Road, Martinez, Ga. 30907.
