GARFIELD, Ga. - Mr. Ben Johnson, age 84, died, Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Emanuel Medical Center. He was born in Emanuel County, October 24, 1924. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired farmer, and Deacon of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Rose Clark Johnson; three daughters, Marcia (John) Newton of Millen, Karen (Frank) Moore of Rincon, and Lisa (Steve) Weirather of Lawrence- ville; two sons, Paul (Cathy) Johnson of Garfield and Ben L. Johnson of Metter; a sister, Ruth Pennington of Augusta; a brother, Kin Johnson of Calahan, FL; nine grandchildren, Eric and Kevin Johnson, Alison Kraus, Kelly Mickle, Will Newton, Natalie DeJesus, Meredith Moore, Jorie Weirather, and Ben Weirather; six great grandchildren, Chastity, Hailey, Noah, Joshua Paul, and David Ben Johnson, and Laura Elizabeth Mickle; and several nieces and nephews.
