Three arrested at Laney-Josey game

Three men were arrested at a basketball game at Josey High School on Friday night.

Brandon Johnson, 18, and Anthony Faulkes, 19, were charged with possession of a gun on school property and possession of marijuana, according to Richmond County jail personnel. Raheem Jenkins, 20, was charged with possession of cocaine with an intent to distribute. All three remained in jail Saturday afternoon.

The arrests occurred at a game between Josey and Laney high schools.

Man is shot in foot by passing motorist

Aiken County deputies were searching Saturday for a car that was used in a drive-by shooting.

According to Aiken County sheriff's Capt. Troy Elwell, Kenneth Jones was walking down McCormick Street in Aiken when he was shot in the foot by a person in a passing vehicle.

Mr. Jones was taken to Aiken Regional Medical Center.

The car is described as a gray or silver Saturn with Clemson stickers on the front.

KUDOS to Dr. Bedden for his

KUDOS to Dr. Bedden for his decisive actions to keep RCSS campuses gun- and drug-free! When Johnson, Faulkes and Jenkins brought a gun and cocaine onto a RCSS campus Friday night, they found out that "Sheriff" Bedden didn't play the same "sweep-it-under-the-rug" game that "Sheriff" Larke played upon the taxpayers of Richmond County for over ten years.

Larke was a joke. Bedden is

Larke was a joke. Bedden is far superior but he needs a new Public Safety Director and they need to fully support their officers, hire only certified personnel and drop this school security stuff. Good job to the campus police and deputies on the arrests. Are the commissoners going to look into revoking the schools permits since these type of incidents continue to occur?

The three men arrested at the Laney-Josey game are the same age as 18, 19, and 20 year old boys. Their actions also show them to be boys. I'll bet they're just passin'.

No wonder other schools don't

No wonder other schools don't want to travel to RC schools for sporting events. If these three losers were caught, it makes me wonder how many went undetected. Hmmm...

redapples please go back and be afraid in your suburb. They didn't even go to school at Laney or Josey. And there don't even live in RC. A student was caught with a gun on school property at Evans and South Aiken recently. Or are you only afraId when it happens in RC. If people are afraid like you then stopping watching the news and being afraid of ppl who don't look like you.

They were former students of Josey. I agree with you AS IT IS...Dr. Bedden has made a lot of great changes within the school system and should be commended. Now he needs to replace the Director and assistant Director of Public Safety.
