SAVANNAH, Ga. - Almareta Williamson, 86, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009, in Savannah. Mrs. Williamson was born in Register, Ga., on December 23, 1922, the daughter of the late David Henry and Debbie Bird Williamson. Almareta attend- ed the schools of Register. She enjoyed participating in the school basketball team and also played in the City Leagues. Upon graduation she began working with Sears Roebuck and Co. where she retired after over forty years of service as Head Cashier. Almareta loved to visit the Flea Market whether perusing or in her booth which she had for many years. She was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Mrs. Williamson was considered a perpetual grandmother to every child she ever met, especially the children of her family. She is survived by her sisters, Lois Jeffcoat of North Augusta and Shelva Lanier and husband, Larry of Midway; nieces, Henriann Walpole of North Augusta and Cathy Phillips and husband, Ronnie of Rincon; nephew, Tommy Porter and wife, Lynn of Savannah; and many more family and friends. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
