HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. Beryle Eugene 'Skip' Schlarb of Bald Eagle Drive in Hephzibah, died on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. He was 78 years old. The family will receive friends on Thursday (Today), February 12, 2009 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 3:00 pm from Crestview Baptist Church, 2632 Mike Padgett Highway, Augusta. Mr. Schlarb will lie in state at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 on Friday. Committal services, with full military honors, will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jimmy Sanders and Rev. Harry Sims will officiate. Mr. Schlarb is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jane Schlarb; his step-daughters, Annette Seigler and her husband, Rick, of North Augusta, and Lynn Prylic of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Tori Seigler, Neil Cypress, Patrick Cypress, and Ashley Cypress; very close family friends, Francis and Helen Overholt of West Lafayette, Ohio. Mr. Schlarb was preceded in death by his Uncle and Aunt John and Christine Schlarb of Michigan City, Ind. Mr. Schlarb was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. He was a deacon and had served as chairman of the board of Deacons. Mr. Schlarb retired from the United States Army after more than 20 years. He served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
