ARLINGTON, Texas - Katharine Brinkley Brown, 100, widow of the late Charles E. Brown, died February 4, 2009. Services will be held on Friday, February 13, at 3:00 in the chapel of Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, with the Reverend John Pinson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Katharine was born in Bolton, NC on February 23, 1908. She spent her most active years in Wilmington, NC and in Augusta where her husband was transferred in 1951 by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. Katharine worked as a corporate secretary. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Augusta. She was active in the Augusta Woman's Club, where she edited the newsletter for several years. In 1994, Katharine moved to Arlington, Texas, to be near her daughter's family. Katharine is survived by her son, Ed Brown and wife, Amy, of Panama City Beach, FL; her daughter, Vicki Starnes and husband Don of Arlington, TX; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
