Heather Renee Patrick, 23, of Norcross, Ga., was charged with prostitution Dec. 16, 2008...

Capt. Steve Morris said Tuesday that the arrests, which began in mid-December, involved two separate sting operations using a national online classified advertising service.

In the first sting, in mid-December, Columbia County investigators responded to online escort service advertisements and invited four women and two men to meet at a hotel near Interstate 20, Capt. Morris said.

Once the advertisers arrived and each negotiated a price for sex with undercover investigators, police arrested them for prostitution, Capt. Morris said.

In January, Columbia County investigators turned the tables by setting up their own online escort service ad, Capt. Morris said.

The advertisement netted the arrests of four area men who showed up at the hotel, met with an undercover investigator and offered money for sex, Capt. Morris said.

"Instead of cruising the streets for prostitutes, these men responded to an online ad looking for sex," Capt. Morris said.

The agency is continuing to run the sting operation and expects more arrests, Capt. Morris said.

Arrested in December and charged with prostitution were Katrina Zuill, 19, of Augusta; Heather Patrick, 23, of Norcross, Ga.; Lisa Bogdan, 28, of Sardis, Ga.; and Kristine Matthews, 23, of Decatur, Ga., all women, Capt. Morris said, and Sahara Friday, 27, of Hephzibah, and Bryan Holley, 27, of North Augusta, both men.

Mr. Friday also was charged with interference with government property after jailers say he cut two slits in his mattress at the Columbia County Detention Center.

Arrested in January and charged with pandering were James Samuels, 28, of Langley; Isaiah Williams, 49, of Aiken; James Flynn, 52, of Evans; and Thomas McCook, 25, of Augusta, Capt. Morris said.

All of those arrested have been released on bond with the exception of Mr. Holley, who remains in the Columbia County Detention Center with bond set at $1,600, Capt. Morris said.

It seems like such a waste of

It seems like such a waste of time to figh one of the oldest trades in the world. The sad part is if they put it on DVD and sold it, it wouldn't be prostitution. It would be pornography, which is legal.

This just doesn't seem like a very good use of police resources. Haven't they got real crime to stop, with real victims?

Even worms gotta eat. Least these women aren't on welfare, and apparently serving a vital function relieving the "stress" men suffer from this failed economy-no doubt from economic worries. After all they could only afford a two bit ho and not one them expensive hi class hoes. LOL

I commented a lot yesterday

I commented a lot yesterday on this. The idea with prostitution is to keep it off the streets. There are lots of forms of prostitution going on that little can be done about and resources shouldn't be wasted fighting because it doesn't bother the public. This is one of them. Who is next...Columbia County real estate saleswomen?

i have a problem with stings,

i have a problem with stings, and entrapments.with all the crime in all counties, what is the priority, getting the real criminals or those who have weaknesses, but probably are employed?i'm much more concerned about getting robbed, carjacked,or murdered by thugs than 2 people in a hotel room not bothering anyone.and as usual we have the self righteous here.you know them they went to the adult book store when it was open, they just parked around the side of the building after it got dark, and scorned those who who want to keep it open.they'l be the first ones there if it reopens.

For many years I happen to

For many years I happen to work on Deansbridge Rd. so this gave me unique opporttunity to observe such business going on. As I started to pay more attention I also noticed a lot of cars with Coulmbia County tags. If you take a minute & think about it since they don't live or work in this area it's the perfect cover & since most likely no one will reconize them? Wa-La ...Do you know where your husband is every minute of the day & night? Most of you would not want to admit it but NO you don't. You would also be suprised how many men (behind closed doors) Love trashy women. No commitment, no huggie-kissie, no you don't even have to talk & the best thing? They don't have to worry about pleasing them & since their paying? It's all about them..Men like that!

This is not entrapment.

This is not entrapment. Entrapment occurs when the subject or suspect has no other alternative but to break the law, according to his or her perception of the situation. These folks weren't forced to solicit sex... they may have been enticed by the idea of being able to pay for something they weren't getting at home, but it appears they made the conscious choice to put themselves in that scenario. If guilty, they got what they deserved. I just pray for these perverts' families, whose worlds have now been turned upside down.

At least they are working.

At least they are working. Look in the Augusta phone book yellow pages at the number of Escort services. Why would Columbia county go out of their way to arrest these people? The real drag on our society is Augustas largest industry which is federally funded housing be it section 8 or projects. The products of federally funded houses(welfare) is crime, poverty and ignorance.

PNC if you are going to throw

PNC if you are going to throw around accusations such as those you should be man enough to attach your name and the name of the accused. Otherwise I would suggest that you stop using this thread to spread apparently baseless accusations. Get a life.

justthefacts...It's very

justthefacts...It's very interesting & sad. I seen a young girls year ago walking the street by where I worked she appeared to be about 18 or 19. I tell you she was a beautiful young girl & I wondered what happened in her life to cause her to live this way? Two or three months went by & I had not seen here recently & looked up one day & there she was, I almost cried this little girl that was so beautiful looked like something out of a movie..so fraile & raggy ..eyes sunk back ..to this day it's haunts me wondering what happened in this childs life to cause such a drastic change in such a short period.:( It's very sad when you see it face to face:(

oldcrow99..do you have a

oldcrow99..do you have a problem with reading comprehension? I have not used any names & I would not. And to top it off ..I don't care what you think! And..accusations are not accusations unless you use a name with them which I did not. This topic seems sensitive to you..did your husband get caught with a hooker? That's it huh?...lol Your the one who needs to get a life because you trying to control mine. Just mind you own business & don't worry what I'm doing because I surely don't care what your doing. I can certianly see where you got your screen name , & It would be safe to say you earned you, OldCrow

Slighty off but I wouldn't

Slighty off but I wouldn't expect much logic based on your earlier posts. If you aren't going to name names then your post is simply heresay and bears no more merit than children's gossip. If you are going to attack the Catholic community by making accusations such as those, and you are so confident in your "facts" then why not share them. An accusation is most DEFINITELY just that with or without a name. However, I don't expect much character from you based upon your history on these boards. Good day "sir"

Isn't every man guilty and

Isn't every man guilty and should be arrested for pandering b/c either way you have to "pay" for it. Wether it be drinks at a bar, flowers from the florist, dinner and a movie, jewelry, divorce, a lady of the evening

No matter how you shake it you have to "pay"

You know how to pick who you want to stand up for..priest & little boys..Did I make that up or is 60 minutes just picking on the catholics..I've grown tired of you looking for a fight.
