Construction will close the westbound lanes of Old Evans Road between Columbia Industrial Boulevard and Washington Road from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Westbound traffic will be required to detour onto Columbia Industrial Boulevard to Evans to Locks Road, which intersects Washington Road.

Eastbound traffic will be down to one lane in portions of the work zone.

The road and utility work is for an Old Evans Road widening project, according to Columbia County Construction and Maintenance Services.

Lanes closures will occur on a portion of Bobby Jones Expressway and Interstate 20 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday , according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release.

Weather permitting, the closures will take place on Bobby Jones east and westbound between I-20 and Wrightsboro Road and on I-20 east and westbound between Warren and Wheeler roads, the release states.

Traffic could be stopped periodically.
