AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Paul Ishee, 77, husband of Winnie Purvis Ishee for 57 years, entered into rest Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Stockton officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Glenn Hills Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Janet Rhoades and her husband Charlie of Augusta and Pamela Chapman and her husband Ted of Madison, Ga.; grandchildren, Jay Parker and his wife Marie of Prospect, Ky., Teddy Chapman and his wife Cindy of Good Hope, Ga., Tammy Daily and her husband Chris of Fairbanks, Alaska and Charli Anne Rhoades of Augusta; great-grandchildren, Grace Chapman, Miriam Daily and Maddie Parker; brothers, Zeb Ishee of Brandon, Miss., and Wayne Ishee of Petal, Miss.; sisters, Verdie Phillips and her husband Herman of Ovett, Miss., Ann Clayton and her husband Carley of Hattiesburg, Miss., Joann Windham of Columbia, Miss., and Pansy Gierger of Perkinston, Miss.; and numerous neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gayola Ainsworth and brother, OJ Ishee. Mr. Ishee was born in Smith County, Miss., to the late J.O. and Aletha Gable Ishee. He was a member of Glenn Hills Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 24 years. He was a former Sunday School teacher for the Faithful Workers SS Class and was a member of the Brotherhood. He served in the US Army for 27 years and retired in 1982 as a First Sergeant. He served in the Korean Conflict and did two tours in Vietnam. During his military career he was awarded the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Purple Hearts, Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, Distinguished Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (11 Campaigns), 2 National Defense Service Medals, German Marksmanship Badge, Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Serice ribbon, 2 Army Commendation Medals, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Medal, 4 NCO Professional Development ribbons, Expert Rifle Badge, Vietnam campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Service ribbons and 3 Overseas Service bars. Contributions may be made to the Glenn Hills Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 2877 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA 30906.
