ATHENS, Ga. - Charles Thayer Griffin, 30, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at Riverside Cemetery entering through the main gate with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. A memorial service will be held in Athens, Ga., at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Georgia Theatre on Lumpkin Street. The family will meet friends from 5 - 7 p.m., Thursday, February 5th, at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, Macon. Charles was born November 19, 1978 in Macon, Georgia. During his youth, Charles obtained rank as an Eagle Scout, attended Stratford Academy in Macon and Truett McConnell College. He was currently employed at the Georgia Theatre in Athens. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charlie Frank Griffin of Macon, Ga., and Richard Thayer Roberts of Huntsville, Ala. He is survived by his parents, Sally Roberts Griffin and Rick Warren Griffin of Augusta, Ga., and his beloved sister, Martha Binford Griffin of Augusta, Ga. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Sarah Monroe Roberts of Huntsville, Ala., and Martha Mitchell Griffin of Macon, Ga.; seven aunts and uncles and eight cousins.
