AUGUSTA, Ga. - William "Billy" Jasper Drake, Jr., 66, beloved husband of Cheryl Morris Drake, entered into rest on February 2, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009, at 7:00 PM at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Billy was a 43-year employee of International Paper Corporation where he was a member of the emergency response team, a CPR instructor, and a recipient of numerous awards. He was a good Christian husband, father, and a long-time member and former deacon of Central Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Wade (Teresa) Drake and daughter, Ponda (Daylon) Maxwell, both of Augusta; grandchildren, Brianne Griffis, Wade William Drake, Clint Thomas Drake, Evan Benoit, and Suzanne Skelton; sister, Linda (Roy) Morris of Blythe; brothers, James (Freda) Drake of Hephzibah and Kenny (Mary) Drake of Grovetown; and many special family members. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta 30906. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Red Cross, 1322 Ellis Street, Augusta GA 30901, or Central Baptist Church, 3006 Richmond Hill Road, Augusta GA 30906.
