BELVEDERE, S.C. - Mr. Edward Moses Matthews, 78, husband of 58 years to Peggy Kennedy Matthews, entered into rest Friday, January 23, 2009 at his home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. Lloyd Prince officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park. A native of Indiana, Mr. Matthews had made Belvedere his home since 1962. He was a member of Belvedere United Methodist Church. He was an avid musician who played many musical instruments as well as wrote music. He enjoyed animals, especially his dog, Freddie. Additional survivors include a son, Eddie Matthews of North Augusta; two daughters, Donna Lester of Belvedere and Marie Yates of Erie, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Wayne Lester, Candace Holliday, Dave Matthews, Leah Roman, Cheryl Myers, Morgan Matthews, Cindy Black and Bryan Jones; four great-grandchildren, Devon Baker, Izabel Lester, Angel Myers and Chloe Myers. Pallbearers will be: Dave Matthews, Wayne Lester, Bryan Jones, Michael Roman, Keith Humphries, Joel Kelly and Fred Lotock The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call or visit the residence of Eddie Matthews, 102 Salty Dog Lane, North Augusta, S.C. 29860 (803-279-2946).
