Yet another actiongram campaign, in the effort to show folks this is a popular opinion, when it's a political agenda (and pushed via email). Often these are written in the most dire language, all to propel folks to "do as we say", and often are riddled with falsehoods. Most are lost in emotion, not facts. When presented with facts, the usual bible thumping is the M.O.. When science can create life in the lab (and it will create humans regardless of religious sentiments, as human curiosity will trump any censorship), any ideas about "conception" is moot from the gate. Religion has to adapt to the changing times, as it did from the 1500s onwards. Mankind will seek, explore, and yes even abuse his knowledge, but it will come and no scripture will stop it -- no matter the dire language; the gross photos; the bombs (terrorism doesn't help their message about respecting life anyway); or legislation. It just slows progress.

Now, that said, life still needs to be respected. Respect doesn't mean regarding some cells more special than other cells. Men don't treat their sperm as holy seeds, anymore than women their eggs. They're cells that are shed even naturally. It's nature's way to reproduce, but in time it won't be the only way (so needed to ensure our species won't become extinct). Biblical explanations of life is to simplistic, to the point of denying knowledge we have learned in 1500 years since the bible. If we lived the scriptures, we'd still be living in the Dark Ages (and no one wants to return to that again). The compromise is to have guidelines about respecting life (like ensuring species survival, and not going against what our very bodies are designed for -- like survival). Does that outlaw abortion? No, as there's times when an abortion is necessary (as nature even does it naturally), as killing the goose that lays the golden egg is counterproductive. Does that mean abortion "on demand"? No, because abortion was never birth control. Rational folks will see the middle ground, which is tolerable.

Separate, they're nothing, Sandy. Once they've joined they're a human life, not just a group of cells. Abortion, of any kind, is murder.

Live and let live......stop killing children. Why does the mother's desires trump the life of the child? Sandy. Give us the EXACT point that you believe that this lump of tissue becomes a child. You say that "there's times when an abortion is necessary". When is that? When is the life of the mother more important than the life of the child? Why doesn't the child have any say in that decision? After all, the child is the one who has a 100% chance of death from the procedure. You are one of the most selfish people I have heard in a while. Your only concern is "me me me" with NO concern for who dies to make you happy.

Live and let live GGpap....Now that is really a comment eh...As if the evil overflow of so many murders will never impact you and yours...Don't be so sure friend...All this support of mass murders leads people into a deeper hole of desensitized actions for their fellow human beings...When that reaches epidemic proportions then you will be scrambling for counter measures as your lives will be worth less than nothing if your not as fit as others believe you should be...

SisterA: Please note, in my posts on the previous article concerning this topic, I clearly stated that I wouold not support abortion past the 2nd trimester. Earlier than the 2nd trimester there is no "life," there is no murder of a child. GGpap

What changes at the second trimester GGpap? What is the exact day that that change occurs? What makes that heart beat with no life present? What makes those brainwaves with no life present?

Sandy, your 3:00 am post has one major flaw in it. Science cannot and will not CREATE life. They may reproduce it, but will not create it. They cannot CREATE a living cell. They must have life to work with in order to reproduce life. The same can be said for the post by GGpap. If there is a living cell, there is life. You may not have a complete and whole person. I can agree with that. But there is life.

So justus4...since it's only a few children getting killed, and not the whole country, that makes it ok?

I'll keep asking until someone attempts to answer. At what specific point do you have a person. If you can't define it, then how do you know you are not killing a person?

Life doesn't begin-well it did billions of years ago-it is a continuum. Thus it is with man. Living gametes produce living offspring. Biologically it alive and human-that is with impunity. It isn't a legal person so it isn't murder, but you're still killing a live human (Homo sapien). These arguments "it isn't alive or human"are just absurd, ridiculous, and ignorant. WHO OWNS A HUMAN LIFE. The issue isn't whether we humans can kill other humans-apparently we've been doing it a long time. The issue is the medical right to privacy.

I can't believe how desensitized human beings have become. Just when I thought we were a sympathetic species we have yet to care about our unborn future. You know, stop and ask yourself why all these anti-abortion letters are being printed. MAYBE THEY HAVE A POINT! The only time an abortion should be acceptable is in the cases of rape and if the mother's life is in danger.

And yes we should care about the kids in foster homes and such, but if we don't start caring about the unborn, we might as well just drop an atomic bomb on our nation because those unborn are our future.

It's amazing to me how our President can close a prison for terrorist, and suspend the interrogation tactics, which gives us information about their whereabouts - giving them special rights -TERRORIST -but on the other hand, an unborn fetus has no rights what so ever. Can anyone with intelligence explain this?

Sandy, miscarriage is not intentional. A woman can be prosecuted if she miscarries because she's doing drugs, a murderer can be prosecuted if they kill mother and CHILD.

Personally, I say start an amendment to the Constitution, let it pass through until ratification, then have each state hold referendums to ratify or not. Then, at least, the people have a true say in the matter.
