SALUDA, S.C. - Julia Elizabeth (Caldwell) Forrest, 89, of Saluda, S.C., entered into rest Monday, January 19, 2009. Mrs. Forrest was an avid gardener, a talented floral designer, a life-long member of Deans Chapel Church, and an enthusiastic supporter of her family and community. She worked for many years with Saluda Shirt Company and retired after 17 years from the Flower and Gift in Saluda. Mrs. Forrest was preceded in death by her parents, Hobson and Phoebe Perry Caldwell, husband of over 58 years George W. Forrest, two daughters, Kay Forrest Palmer and Sandra Dale Forrest, and great-grandson, Forrest Johnson. Survivors are 4 children, Patsy Matthews (Terry) of North Augusta, Terry Forrest (Miriam) of Apple Valley, Minn.; Von Forrest of Saluda, and Gebie Forrest of Augusta, Georgia. Grandchildren are Denise Johnson (Monte), Dana Cook (Greg), Brian Forrest (Amanda) and Brandon Matthews (Sandra). Great-grandchildren are Clayton and Beth Ellen Johnson and Sarah Phoebe and John Clark Cook. Her siblings include Hubert Caldwell and Willard Bickley of Newberry, Ozie Krell of Prosperity, Sudie Berry and Ted Caldwell (Gloria) of Saluda, Heyward (Mae) of Boise, Idaho; and Joyce Harling of Edgefield. Services will be 2 PM, Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Deans Chapel Pentecostal Church, Hollywood School Road, Saluda with interment at Bethany United Methodist Church, Bethany Church Road, Saluda.
