AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dorothy Chance Barton wife of Thomas Franklin Barton entered into rest Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. from Green Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Roland Dann officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Barton will lie in state at the church from 2:00p.m. until the hour of the service. Mrs. Barton was a native of Jenkins County, Georgia and daughter of the late Cardell and Ethel Idell Taylor Chance. She was a homemaker and a member of Green Fork Baptist Church. Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her grandson Wayne Herndon, Jr. Additional survivors include: her sons and daughter in law, Robert and Martha Jackson of Statesboro, Thomas 'Tommy' Jackson of Augusta, William Barton of Knoxville, TN, her daughters and sons in law, Carolyn Lariscy of Perkins, Ga., Barbara and Johnny Wells of Martinez and Frankie and Robert May of North Augusta, SC, her grandchildren, Michelle, Donna, Tiffany, Angie, Dee, Christopher, Tommy, Elana, David, Ashley, Tony, Alicia, Steven and eight great-grandchildren, her brothers, Grady Chance of Brunswick, Ga., Willard Chance of Perkins, Ga. Active Pallbearers will be Dwayne Newton, David Lariscy, Steven Jackson, Christopher Herndon, John Wells, Robert May and Michael Rollins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Hospice St. Joseph Foundation P.O. Box 31358 Augusta, Georgia 30903.
