AIKEN, S.C. - We, The Children and Grandchildren, of one we truly loved and appreciated, Mrs. Bernice P. Ealey Cheatham, give thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing us with 91 fruitful, blessed and fond years that we, our family and loyal friends, shared together. She was a resident of 1599 Wire Rd., Aiken, SC and a gracious homemaker. We cordially invite you to share with us in this celebration of life at 2PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the Crown Christian Church International, 720 Edgefield Rd., Aiken, SC, with Rev. Westley Guyton, Officiating. The interment will immediately follow in the H.G. Cheatham, Sr. Estate Memorial Gardens, Aiken, SC. Mrs. Cheatham, was a native of Aiken County, SC and a member of the Randall Branch Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, in which she served in the capacity as Mother of the Church for numerous years. She also enjoyed attended Crown Christian Church International with her children and grandchildren. She was also a former employee of Aiken Community Hospital, Aiken, SC, before her retirement. She was being attended to at home by her loving family when she listened to God's whisper at 10:27PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, four days after a massive stroke and answered his call leaving behind her humbled survivors: Two sons, J. Edward Cheatham, Warrenville, SC and Richard D. Cheatham (Catherine), Aiken, SC; Three daughters, Edith "Edie" D. Cheatham Walls, Columbus, Ohio, Annette D. Cheatham and Donna M. Cheatham both of Aiken, SC; eleven grandchildren of which three she reared as her children, Horace, Jr., Douglas and Angela; fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of loving nephews and nieces and compassionate friends over the many years that she called her family and truly adored. For the life and legacy of this great woman of God we, the family, are eternally grateful to God and to each of you. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on today from 5 until 8PM at which time light refreshments will be served in her honor.
