NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. George Baskett, Sr., of 324 Hugh Street, entered into rest January 17, 2009 at the VAMC, DD. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Mr. Baskett, a native of Aiken County, was a member and deacon of Mealing Grove Baptist Church of which the Rev. Jimmie Dyson is pastor. Survivors include nine daughters, Rev. Lucile (Rev. Jimmie) Dyson of the home, Laura (Rev. Luke) Mitchell, Aiken, S.C., Mattie (Larry) Cook, Augusta, Ga., Sheila (Ray) Wilson, Evans, Ga., Glennice (Roy) Brown, Janice Baskett, Loretta (Calvin) Mays, Constance (William) Johnson, North Augusta, S.C., and Carol Lynn (Jeffery) Cannon, Graniteville, S.C.; three sons, James (Barbara) Baskett, Harold Melvin (Loretta) Baskett and James Simmons, North Augusta, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Annette Baskett, Aiken, S.C.; one sister, Bennie D. Basker, North Augusta, S.C.; sister-in-law, Roberta Shaw, Graniteville, S.C.; 29 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
