Lem Reece Bridges (DESTIN, Fla.)

DESTIN, Fla. - Mr. Lem Reece Bridges, Sr., age 90, was called to God January 16, 2009 in Destin, FL. Born July 27, 1918 in Mississippi, son of Charles Bridges and Irl Barlow. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Lester Bridges, and sister Dovie Pickens. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Grace Bridges of Destin, FL, their children, Reece Bridges, Jr. and wife Annette of Augusta, GA, Rodney Bridges and wife Becky of Lilburn, GA, and Diane Nix and husband Randy of Marietta, GA, and five grandchildren Jennifer Pennington and husband Bart, and Sarah Rhoads and husband Bill, both of Athens, GA, Steven Bridges of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth Bridges of Lilburn, GA, Lee Starnes of Atlanta, GA and great-granddaughter Jane Pennington. A Mississippi State University graduate and US Naval Officer during WWII, Lem had 35 total years service with the US Government, retiring in December 1979 as Regional Administrator for LMSA in Atlanta, GA. Lem and Grace moved to Destin, FL to retire in 1991, where he enjoyed surf fishing on the Emerald Coast and traveling the world. Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, January 19, at Lowndes & McLane Funeral Home, 4320 Cowan Road, Tucker, GA 30084. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 20 held at the chapel Lowndes & McLane Funeral Home, Reverend Bill Bigger officiating. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Garden in Floral Hills Cemetery, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy., in Tucker, GA.
