Letter to the Editor
It has been interesting to see and hear the crying out for a messiah. It is both a spiritual and political need for perfection that no man can become.
We want someone to take us out of the economic and military crisis we are currently in. Our country must stop believing in handouts, political miracles and financial bailouts. "Can I have some more, please?" must be left to the mind of Dickens.
We are known as a people who work hard and pay our own way. However, we have become lazy and our children want a paycheck without working hard. We demand free medical care when it is financially impossible. We want our mortgages paid for without the money coming from our wallets. We want a free lifestyle without consequences. We want peace without protecting that peace from outside aggression.
We assume we will always be free even when the government slowly takes it away. Good government is by the people, of the people and for the people. To do otherwise our nation will perish.
Our freedoms are changing. Freedom of speech is becoming a hate crime, freedom of religion is intolerance of Christianity, freedom of press is the Fairness Act, "share the wealth" supersedes capitalism, and democracy is a socialist state of mind.
If this is our future only silence will be left.
