ROYSTON, Ga. - Dorothea Cecile Speth Perry was born in Augusta, GA on Dec. 29, 1908 to Louis Philip Speth, Sr. and Christina May Speth. Dorothy went to be with her Lord on Jan. 9, 2009 after a brief illness. She had recently had a wonderful 100th birthday celebration at The Gables at Cobb Village in Royston, GA. She was a lifelong member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Augusta. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at St Paul's Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Rick Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Dorothy was educated at Augusta's Tubman High School. She studied at the University of GA in Athens for one year, then went on to earn her teacher's diploma at Augusta Junior College. She was teaching at Woodlawn Grammar School when she met her first husband, Dr. Edward Marschalk. Not long after their three children were born, Edward died of leukemia. Dorothy took over their fledgling business selling medical supplies. She also developed about 30 acres of farmland off Kissingbower Road into home sites in the Lakewood subdivision in the 1940's and '50's. Dorothy was married again in 1951 to Robert "Bob" Perry. They operated a successful "motor court" in Daytona Beach, FL for years before retiring. They traveled across the US, Mexico, Alaska and Europe. Much of her "travel" time was spent doing genealogical research. She compiled the lineage of the Speth family back to the 1400's. She provided genealogical hints, help and research until her early 90's. In 1997, she received the Arthur Award for many years of service to the Augusta Genealogical Society. Dorothy's death follows that of her beloved parents, sister, Bernice, brother, Louis, Jr., husbands, daughter, Dorothy M. Thompson, son, Edward Marschalk and many dear friends. She is survived by her daughter, Julia Anne M. Mueller; nephew, Dr. Fred Marschalk; nieces, Mary M. Holton, Marguerite M. Bentz , Lucile S. Nanda, Mary S. Norton, Judy S. Dick; grandchildren: John Watkins, Jackie W. Weiner, Tom Watkins, Bill Watkins, Donna M. Mesker, Susan M.
