Students sought

The International Baccalaureate Program will hold an open house for prospective students at 7 p.m. today in the media center at the Academy of Richmond County, 910 Russell St.

Applications for the program will be available at the open house and must be submitted by Friday, Jan. 30. Students who participate in the program can earn college credit.

Pianists in church

Pianists Clara Park and Martin David Jones will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, 1420 Monte Santo Ave.

The program will feature both four-hand and solo piano music by composers including Mozart, Brahms, Ravel and Rachmaninoff.

Lifeguard classes

The Augusta chapter of the American Red Cross will offer lifeguard training classes Jan. 19-30, Feb. 9-20, Feb. 23 through March 6 and March 23 through April 3.

Professional club

The Young Professionals of Augusta will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at The Partridge Inn, 2110 Walton Way.

Social time will start at 5:30 p.m. Leadership-development time will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The free meetings are open to professionals ages 21 to 40 who live, work or have an interest in the Augusta area.

The Sierra Club of Augusta will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta, 3501 Walton Way Extension.

The speaker, Jan Perry, the market manager for Augusta Locally Grown, will discuss how to participate in the group.

Some baby talk

Babypalooza will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in the grand ballroom at the Doubletree Hotel, 2651 Perimeter Parkway.

The free event will feature vendors and resources to help expectant mothers prepare for parenthood. Expert advice on baby safety, cord blood banking and related topics will be provided.

Admission is free. The first 100 expectant mothers to arrive will receive a gift bag.
