Mary Nell O'Farrell Garrett (EVANS, Ga.)

EVANS, Ga. - Mary Nell O'Farrell Garrett, wife of the late Rev. Hilton Charles Garrett, Sr., passed away on January 2, 2009 at her home at 703 Talon Ct., Evans, Ga. Mrs. Garrett was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Zuell Colon O'Farrell of Baxley, Ga., former administrator of the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, Baxley. She is survived by her children, Hilton Charles Garrett, Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Louise Garrett Gentry, Carrollton, Ga., Reena Sue Garrett, Evans, Thomas (Tom) C. Garrett, Augusta, Ga., Ruth Garrett Crews, Martinez, Ga., Winifred B. Garrett (Tom), and David C. Crews (Ruth); 12 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; sister, Grace O'Farrell Bostic, Waycross, Ga.; sister-in- law, Janelle Garrett Carnes, Bradenton, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Garrett was born in Casper, WY on May 13, 1922, where her father served in the ministry prior to relocating to Florida and Georgia to continue his work. Memorial service: First Baptist Church, 3500 Walton Way, Augusta, Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 11:30 a.m., Dr. Greg DeLoach, Senior Pastor, officiating. Visitation: January 7, 2009, 10:30 a.m., Church Rotunda. Funeral service: Swain Funeral Home, Baxley, Thursday, January 8, 2009, 11:30 a.m. Visitation, 10:30 a.m., Swain Funeral Home, Dr. Greg DeLoach, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church, Augusta, officiating. Burial immediately following at Omega Cemetery. Mrs. Garrett dedicated her life to God's service with her late husband, serving various churches and mission boards in Georgia and Missouri, actively involved in numerous church activities while raising five children. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Benevolence Committee, First Baptist Church, Augusta. Active pallbearers: Tom Garrett, Hunter Garrett, Wade Garrett, Hilton Charles Garrett, III, Garrett Gentry, David C. Crews, and William Charles Crews.
