Warm meal a gift from strangers

  • Follow Letters

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, I stopped at the Cracker Barrel in mid-afternoon to eat. When I had finished my meal, I asked for a tea to go.

As the waitress set it down she said, "There is no charge for your meal." She went on to explain that a "young couple" had seen me sitting alone and paid for my meal.

It brought tears to my eyes. There are still angels among us, and I hope that they live there and will see this letter.

They may have been traveling as I was. My heart was warmed all the way home, and I regret that I didn't have the opportunity to thank them in person.

We can all offer something of ourselves, whether it be a meal for someone or a warm smile to someone we meet. Thanks to whoever it was that honored me!
