Don't let Bush pardon himself

  • Follow Letters

There is a belief that pardons can put the past behind us and enable us to better face the problems ahead of us. Not so. We build our future on the justice we have achieved in the past. The greater the injustice, and the longer it is unaddressed, the rockier the foundation the next administration has to build upon.

Don't let President Bush pardon himself or anyone else at the end of his term.

Sophia, when thinking about

Sophia, when thinking about the faux pas' and blatant anti-Constitutional orders this president has been responsible for, I really do believe a pardon from Bush for Bush would certainly be adjudicated a "conflict of interest." GGpap.

Pardon Bush for What? How

Pardon Bush for What? How about someone name a crime he committed and back it up with evidence FOR ONCE!!! Real evidence, not just left wing blog talking points. Stuff that would hold up in a real court. For God's sake, you've been bashing this man for 8 years, and still have come up with nothing.

Let's make a deal - Pres Bush

Let's make a deal - Pres Bush doesn't pardon anybody (the notion of pardoning himself if too silly to even discuss) and PEBO doesn't replace any Federal Prosecutors - including the one investigating the Illinois Governor.

Sophia, I would assume from

Sophia, I would assume from your LTE that you're a card carrying member of the hate Bush klan. This means you are easily tricked and misled. The eight year campaign to blame Bush for every action and natural disaster that took place during his time in office was an election p.r. move by the far left. Now that he's out of office, you'll have to find someone else to hate. Stand by, you'll soon know who to focus your bile on. Keep you eye on CNN and you'll receive your orders.

Let's see over 40 investigations by Congress with over 100 testimonies and no smoking gun. It amazing how easily people believe myths created by the media.

GGAP, wasn't President Bill

GGAP, wasn't President Bill Clinton Impeached??? Wasn't he only the 2nd in US history to be impeached? If Bush has done so much that was criminal and we certainly have a Democratic majority in both houses, wonder why they have not impeached him? Just doesn't make sense, does it.....

How the hell can a sitting

How the hell can a sitting president pardon himself without a charge or conviction? And he'll be out of office in two weeks. These libs are truly ignorant.

Why not do away with pardons

Why not do away with pardons all together. Consider some of the pardons made by Bill Clinton on his last day in office while he was stealing everything that wasn't nailed down in the White House. Commuted sentence for FALN, Prdons for Edgar & Vonna Jo Gregory, Peter McDonald, Carlos Vignall, Glenn Braswell, Linda Sue Evens & Susan Rosenburg(Weather Underground), Marc Rich, Susan McDononugh(White Water), Dan Rosterkowski, Melvin Reynolds and his brother Roger. These pardons were so ridiculous they were even criticised by Mr I hate everything American Jimmy Carter and clinton's own advisors like James Carvelle.

Dear King Obama, Master and ruler of all that is knowable:

Please punish Bush and Cheney and destroy all those evil corporations, especially the big oil ones. Please take away all my pain and bills, mortgages and all other responsibilities. I just want to sit by the river all day and drink beer and be one with nature.

Amen.

While Bush cannot pardon

While Bush cannot pardon himself, his power to pardon others is basically unlimited. I agree with Sophia Woods that we cannot close the book on the deeds of the Bush/Cheney regime & expect to move forward as a nation unfettered by the past. A full accounting of what transpired while George W. Bush was President is necessary. For example, all documents related to his authorizing the CIA & other intelligence agencies to use torture needs close scrutiny. That is proving to be difficult because Cheney using the Unitary Executive Theory claims that all papers related to the Bush "administration" are classified in perpetuity. Cheney uses this Unitary Executive Theory (untested in the courts) to claim that anything the President does while in office is legal (just like Richard Nixon - for whom Dick Cheney worked - claimed). Cheney has refused to save papers from his office as required by law. Documents are being destroyed that could incriminate the President & the Vice President. Cheney claims the President (including the entire executive branch of government) acting as Unitary Executive IS the law & unanswerable to Congress, the courts, or the American public for whom Cheney has disdain.

Don't fret, Sophia. Justice

Don't fret, Sophia. Justice will prevail. After all, a Las Vegas jury convicted O. J. Simpson on 12 counts of being an unbelievable idiot.

Sophia: Where on earth did

Sophia: Where on earth did you attend school? Your letter speaks of the most blatant ignorance I have ever seen. So you don't like Bush--yet you are safe in your home from terrotists because of his quick action. You are willing to convict a person who has committed no crime--hope you NEVER sit on a jury; you haven't a clue as to what evidence is or how it relates to a criminal act. In Bush's case, there is no evidence because there has been no crime. Bush has the right to pardon those he deems worthy of the privilige, but cannot pardon himself. Furthermore, there are some restrictions on pardons, so it isn't exactly the free ticket for exhoneration that you seem to think exists. You speak of injustice--the only injustice that I see in your LTE is that you are contributing to the "rockier" foundation by your implication that Bush is somehow responsible for your current situation and the ills of the world, which, by the way existed long before he became President. Give the big O a few months in office; then cry in your cups. Big O is not the sugar daddy you paint him to be!

JohnRandolphHardisonCain,

JohnRandolphHardisonCain, thanks for your enlightening comments about Bush and Cheney. I will certainly view "Truth and Prosecution." With Cheney refusal to save documents, I can only draw one conclusion, something stinks in the Bush/Cheney regime.

Let me see if I understand

Let me see if I understand clearly. Bush has been President for 8 yrs. with GOP control of both Houses of Congress for the first 6 yrs. and all that the GREAT LEADER'S disciples can credit him with is that we haven't had another terrorist attack in this country.Meanwhile, THE GREAT LEADER has damaged this country more than any terrorist group could have accomplished.Oh,I keep forgetting; All of our current economic troubles were created by Clinton and the rest of the evil DEMS.!!! Gee,I wonder how long it would take to rectify all the DEMS.mistakes if HIS MAJESTY could just appoint Himself , SUPREME RULER FOR ETERNITY. Yep, there's a sucker born every minute !!

Facts: I would love to hear

Facts: I would love to hear it!! As far as the stock market and job growth,Where are we now? 54 months? He' been in office 96 months. The stock market temporary gains were made on the backs of the American workers whose jobs have been lost to slave labor and third world wages. Yeah, the corporations did great;until the house of cards collapsed. The executives did great with their little shell game. What happened ? Where's the stock market now? Please, please tell me more that Bush has done? Can you? No!Because he is the biggest failure in history!!
