Reavy Barton (AIKEN, S.C.)

AIKEN, S.C. - Mrs. Reavy Barton was born September 27, 1920 in Aiken County, S.C. to the late Katie and James Blackmon. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her siblings, William Blackmon, Glinning Hankinson, and Samual Blackmon. She departed this life on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 with her devoted daughters at her side. Reavy's soul took flight and returned to the giver of life. Mrs. Barton leaves to cherish her love with fond memories: two loving daughters, Katie M. Barton of the home and Meryl B. Simmons, both of Aiken, S.C.; four grandchildren, Sinclair Simmons, Arnold Simmons, and Wendell Simmons, Jr., all of Charlotte, N.C., and Katrina (Palmer) Troutman of Greensboro, N.C.; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grand- children; her "big baby," Sydney Phiniezy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted this Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Bruce Wright officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
