HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. William G. Johnson, Sr., of Shannon Court, entered into rest Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the University Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at B.A. Williams Memorial Chapel with Rev. J.C. Trowell officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden. Mr. Johnson, a native of Augusta, attended Haines High School. He was formerly employed as an Insurance Agent, at the Richmond County Board of Education, and was a retired employee of the Augusta Country Club. Survivors are eight sons, William Johnson, Jr., Steven L. Johnson, Augusta; Overseer Kenneth (Elder Ardena) Johnson, Randolph Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Cornell Johnson, all of Hephzibah, Ga., Cornelius (Wanda) Hunter, Fayetteville, NC; Richard Smithson, Richmond, VA; five daughters, Angelia (Wendell) Stallings, Augusta, Ga., Patricia (Willie) Moses, Hephzibah, Ga. Wilgenia (Marvin) Starks of Douglasville, GA; Rosie (Dwight) Johnson, Fayetteville, NC; Doris ( Minister Joe) Bacote, North Augusta, SC; one sister, Louise G. Rainey; daughters- in-law, Mary Johnson and Minister Ernestine Johnson, brothers-in-law, Leroy (Mary) Andrews, Florence, SC; William (Doris) Andrews, Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Christine Clark, Ernestine (Noah) Simmons, Carol (Johnny) Alston, Augusta, Ga.; a devoted grandson, Robert P. Johnson, II; 39 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
