Pray to heal this land in 2009

  • Follow Letters

I hope that in 2009 we will be challenged to conform to 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people who are called by my name ... pray and seek my face ... I will heal the land."

At "Watch Night" service we did not forget Ms. Dora Ward and Ms. Valerie McGee's families and their communities who need some healing this day as they reflect on their losses, prepare for closure and seek God's direction for their lives.

Ms. McGee lost her 21-year-old son Danille McGee who was riding his bicycle on an errand for his uncle when he was shot and killed. His death has left her with a void and with funeral expenses she had not anticipated, planned or have the money to pay for. I'm sure Ms. McGee would appreciate it, if you would make a donation to the C.A. Reid Memorial Funeral Home on behalf of her son and family.

We could begin the year in a magnificent way by helping her family, and bringing closure to the current dilemmas we all face:

Healing.

maybe she should just pray, and god will take care of the bills, right?

GACopperhead

You're a butt-head palomino.

_SisterAbdullahX_

Nice retort, GAC. It shows great maturity. Why not try "I am rubber and you are glue?"

HotFoot

I think GACopperhead's comment was perfectly apt, especially given the censors on this board (and thank goodness there ARE censors) would never let him say what he no doubt really feels about palomino9. I am ever amazed at the folks who lead with their "Christianity" yet resent anyone needing a helping hand. Hey, idiots, WWJD? That's not my standard, but it's a good one. Would Jesus try to help this woman with her son's funeral expenses? No brainer.

GACopperhead

Abdullah, this is a serious question. Have you absolutely NO compassion?

CH

I rarely agree with GACopperhead. I usually think he is a butt head, but this time I'll have to agree. Good call GAC. You're right...compassion seems to be in short supply in our society. Like most right wing conservatives, I do have a heart. Surprise!

justthefacts

midwestern, if you have followed previous palamino posts you would see that he hates christians, republicans, and Pres. Bush in particular. Perhaps you lecture HIM on his comments. So, who has no compassion??

Bizarro

Nice request! I would be curious how many people of faith vs secularists respond and donate to this needy cause-just curious no intent. I am sure if the pastor just mentions it at his own church then perhaps the needs will be met to pay for funeral expenses. I am aghast at how much money it takes to die. Even if you are cremated-it is just ridiculous. You can literally live your life debt free and all possessions paid for and then die and immediately be in debt.

GACopperhead

Bizarro, I don't think the religious have a monopoly on charity. There are good people out there...just not Republicans....I'M JUST KIDDING!!!!

Bizarro

Yep I was just thinkin that Baptist are too tight to cough up a dime too. hee, hee, hee. Actually as an atheist of nearly fifty years I never gave any charity, but I was a self absorbed egomaniac. I would help anyone with physical needs but heck I didn't have money too at the time. Now I a philanthropic, giving, charitable self absorbed egomaniac. I fine distinction but rather than claim all the glory for myself now I give God all the glory for my unbelievably brilliant and almost superhuman feats. Nah just kiddin. Its all me but that is just good genes and a suitable environment to breed such super human qualities. Gee, gosh I'm blushin and apparently a little schizoid on my world view. LOL (I luv being Bizarro). I think Christians almost have a monopoly on divorce irony of ironies-I believe the rate is highest among christians. Not too many hi-fidelity christians apparently.

What no MARCH in response to the killing? WTF? Rev. Fryer, I thought B.O. would save us all.....?

_SisterAbdullahX_

I have compassion for those who are willing to help themselves.

_SisterAbdullahX_

WWJD? I doubt he would want Government mandated charity like the left wants.

palomino9

sticks and stones may break my bones, but idiots will never hurt me.

The county will bury any one that needs it, they have a special fund and the deceased are buried in Potter's Field
