Life is unpredictable, so how do we face the future with a minimum amount of fear and anxiety?
What works for me is to shift focus from that which I don't know to that which I do know for sure.
For example, I know for sure that I will not have to live but one day at a time.
Someone once wrote that there are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days that should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One is yesterday , with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. Yesterday is gone.
The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow , with its possible burdens and possible failures. Tomorrow is also beyond our control.
That leaves only one day: today .
Any person can fight the battle of just one day. God never intended for us to burden our lives with yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
We are to focus on what we know for sure.
We know "This is my Father's world."
We know "that in everything God works for good with those who love him and who are called according to his purpose."
We are always more than conquerors through him who loves us ... and nothing can happen to us that will separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
Whatever God does permit to happen to us, God will be there to help us deal with it.
Perhaps the most important thing we need to reaffirm to gain hope is the three facts that undergird my life from top to bottom: God is in charge. God knows what he is doing. God always has our best interest in mind.
