PLUM BRANCH, S.C. - Mr. Charles T. 'Tootsie' Jennings, Sr., husband of Mrs. Nancy C. Jennings, died at Hospice Care Of The Piedmont on December 30, 2008. He was born in Parksville, S.C., April 28, 1926, a son of the late Fate and Lula Wells Jennings. He received his education in the McCormick County Schools and retired from Greenwood Mills. Following his retirement he served as a Custodian in the McCormick County School District and also worked with the U.S. Forestry Service in Bradley, S.C. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping. At an early age, he joined the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and served faithfully until death. Surviving are his wife of 62 years of the home; two sons, Charles (Mary) Jennings, Jr., of Plum Branch, Willie Alfred (Regina) Jennings of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters, Lula (Ervin) Murray of Lincolnton, Ga., Lizzie (Columbus) Garner and Linda Jennings Anderson both of Greenwood, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Beatrice) Jennings and Henry (Viola) Jennings both of Plum Branch, S.C.; three other brothers- in-law; five other sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Eddie Jennings, Lula Chamberlain and infant twins. Services are Monday, January 5, 2009 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with the Pastor Rev. W.F. Hampton as Eulogist and Rev. R.C. Holloway, Presiding. Interment is in the church cemetery. The family is at his home at 1455 Collier St., in Plum Branch.
